The design and simulation of a 10 × 8 multibeam dual-band orthogonal linearly polarized antenna array operating at Ku-band are presented for transmit-receive applications. By using patches with different coupling methods as elements, both perpendicular polarization in 12.25–12.75 GHz band and horizontal polarization in 14.0–14.5 GHz band are realized in a shared antenna aperture. A microstrip Rotman lens is employed as the beamforming network with 7 input ports, which can generate a corresponding number of beams to cover −30°–30° with 5 dB beamwidth along one dimension. This type of multibeam orthogonal linearly polarized planar antenna is a good candidate for satellite communication (SatCom).

A cavity-backed microstrip patch antenna array was optimized in the Ku band. The backing cavity was designed under each patch antenna of the array in order to increase the bandwidth and minimize the intercoupling among the radiating elements. Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology was employed to fabricate the above-mentioned cavity below the radiating patch. More precisely, four microstrip array antennas, made by 2 × 2, 4 × 4, 8 × 8, and 16 × 16 elements were designed, fabricated, and characterized. The measured maximum gain was G = 13 dBi, G = 18.7 dBi, G = 23.8 dBi, and G = 29.2 dBi, respectively. The performance of the proposed antenna arrays was evaluated in terms of radiation pattern and bandwidth. An extensive feasibility investigation was performed even from the point of different materials/costs in order to state the potential of the engineered antennas in actual applications. The obtained results indicate that a cavity-backed microstrip patch antenna is a feasible solution for broadband digital radio and other satellite communication overall for niche applications.

Antena ini bekerja pada frekuensi 11,9 GHz dengan gain sebesar18,69 dB.Kata kunci: komunikasi satelit, Ku-Band, antena mikrostrip, antena mikrostrip array.ABSTRACTNeeds of mobile satellite communication system at Ku Band are currently being widely grown in Indonesia. Ku-band has a large bandwidth availability and has a shorter wavelengt. The short wavelength effect on the smaller device dimensions. In general, satellite antennas for mobile system uses parabolic antenna but if its use on vehicles the obstacle is weighing of the whole system so it takes motor control system with an expensive price. Therefor, the use of microstrip antenna by using antenna array is a solution that can allow the vehicle to keep moving well while maintaining the continuity of telecommunication links during the move. In this research, a microstrip antenna array receiver using the patch number 2x16 are able to work in the Ku-band has been design dan realized. The antenna work at 11.9GHz with a gain 18,69dB.Keywords: satellite communication, Ku-Band, microstrip antenna, array microstrip antenna.

The optimization problem of statistical synthesis of the method for radar cross section estimation in synthetic aperture radar with planar antenna array is solved. The desired radar cross section is given as a statistical characteristic of a spatially inhomogeneous complex scattering coefficient of the studying media. In fact it is developed new methods of inverse problems solution not with respect to the restoration of coherent images in the form of spatial distribution of complex scattering coefficient but with respect to the statistical characteristics of inhomogeneous (spatially nonstationary) random processes. The electrophysical parameters of surfaces and their statistical characteristics are considered as functions of spatial coordinates. The maximum likelihood method was chosen as the optimization method. The obtained results make it possible to determine the multichannel structure, the optimal method of surface observation and the potential spatial resolution in aerospace scatterometric radars with antenna array. Optimal operations for processing space-time signals are determined and a modified method for synthesizing antenna aperture is proposed, which in contrast to the classical algorithm for synthesizing antenna aperture that integrates the product of the received signal and the reference signal equal to a single signal additionally implements the decorrelation of signals reflected from the earth's surface, The new operation of the scattered signals decorrelation consists in their integration with the space-time inverse correlation function. To confirm the reliability of the results obtained, simulation modeling of the classical method for the synthesis of coherent images and the proposed optimal one was carried out. From the analysis of the results it flows that propose method has higher quality and smaller size of spackle noise. The results obtained in the article can be used to develop and substantiate the requirements for the tactical and technical characteristics of promising aerospace-based scatterometric radars with planar phased antenna arrays.

In this paper, a dual-band metamaterial absorber (MMA) ring with a mirror reflexed C-shape is introduced for X and Ku band sensing applications. The proposed metamaterial consists of two square ring resonators and a mirror reflexed C-shape, which reveals two distinctive absorption bands in the electromagnetic wave spectrum. The mechanism of the two-band absorber particularly demonstrates two resonance frequencies and absorption was analyzed using a quasi-TEM field distribution. The absorption can be tunable by changing the size of the metallic ring in the frequency spectrum. Design and analysis of the proposed meta-absorber was performed using the finite-integration technique (FIT)-based CST microwave studio simulation software. Two specific absorption peaks value of 99.6% and 99.14% are achieved at 13.78 GHz and 15.3 GHz, respectively. The absorption results have been measured and compared with computational results. The proposed dual-band absorber has potential applications in sensing techniques for satellite communication and radar systems.
