Conducting polypyrrole-nickel oxide (polypyrrole-NiO) composites were synthesized by in situ deposition technique by placing different weight percentages of NiO powder (10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%) during the polymerisation of pyrrole. The polypyrrole-NiO composites were later characterised with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) which confirms the presence of polypyrrole in the composite. AC conductivity was studied in the frequency range from 102 to 107 Hz. From these studies it is found that AC conductivity remains constant at low frequency and increases rapidly at higher frequency, which is the characteristic behavior of disordered materials. The dielectric behavior of these composites was also investigated in the frequency range 102–107 Hz. It is observed from these studies that the dielectric constant and dielectric tangent loss decrease exponentially with frequency. The composites exhibit a low value of dielectric loss at higher frequency.

Magnetite (Fe3O4)-graphene nanohybrids having three different weight ratios of magnetite to graphene were synthesized by a facile in-situ deposition method. The combination of dielectric properties of graphene and magnetic properties of magnetite makes the nanohybrids an ideal choice of material for microwave absorption applications. In regards to that, the electromagnetic properties and microwave absorbing characteristics were investigated in a frequency range of 1-18 GHz. The reflection loss (RL) reaches a minimum of-40.44 dB at 6.84 GHz with a thickness of 7 mm for the sample containing 73 wt·% of Fe3O4. The bandwidth corresponding to the RL below-10 dB is 7.05 GHz. The as-prepared Fe3O4-graphene nanohybrids showed good microwave absorption ability in the low frequency band (C-band) which can be ascribed to improved impedance matching characteristics, enhanced interfacial polarizations as well as the magnetic loss contributions. Moreover, the frequency related to minimum RL could be tuned by varying the weight ratios of magnetite to graphene.

To reduce the vibration and shock of powertrain in the process of engine key on/off and vehicle in situ shift, a novel semi-active hydraulic damping strut is developed. The purpose of this paper is to study and discuss the dynamic stiffness model of the semi-active hydraulic damping strut. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of semi-active hydraulic damping strut were analyzed based on MTS 831 test rig first. Then, the dynamic stiffness model of semi-active hydraulic damping strut was established based on 2 degrees of freedom vibration system. In this research, a linear, fractional derivative and friction model was used to represent the nonlinear rubber bushing characteristic; the Maxwell model was used to describe the semi-active hydraulic damping strut body model; and the parameters of rubber bushing and semi-active hydraulic damping strut body were identified. The dynamic stiffness values were calculated with solenoid valve energized and not energized at amplitudes of 1 mm and 4 mm, which were consistent with experimental results in low-frequency range. Furthermore, the simplified dynamic stiffness model of the semi-active hydraulic damping strut was discussed, which showed that bushing can be ignored in low-frequency range. Then, the influence of equivalent spring stiffness, damping constant, and rubber bushing stiffness on the stiffness and damping capacity of the semi-active hydraulic damping strut were analyzed. Finally, the prototype of the semi-active hydraulic damping strut was developed and designed based on the vehicle in situ shift and engine key on/off situations, and experiments of the vehicle with and without semi-active hydraulic damping strut were carried out to verify its function.

Magnetite nanoparticles have been prepared by using sol-gel auto combustion technique. The samples are prepared by using different concentrations of fuel. Structural characterization has been done using X-Ray diffraction technique and it was observed that fuel concentration can affect the structural properties of Magnetite nanoparticles. The dielectric properties for all the samples such as dielectric constant (??), dielectric tangent loss (tan ?) and dielectric loss factor (??) have been studied as a function of frequency and temperature in the range 10 Hz–20 MHz  and it was found that these nanoparticles can be used in microwave devices because of their good dielectric behavior. © 2014 JSR Publications. The polyaniline (PANI)/ CoFe2O4 nanocomposites were prepared by an In Situ polymerization of aniline in an aqueous solution. The composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The AC conductivity and dielectric properties of these composites were investigated in the frequency range 1 kHz–10 MHz at room temperature. The AC conductivity was found to be constant up to 1 MHz and thereafter it increases steeply and it was observed maximum for the PANI with 60 wt% of CoFe2O4 nanocomposite. At lower frequencies the values of dielectric constant is maximum for pure CoFe2O4 nanoparticles.

Dielectric constant and ac conductivity of Polyester doped with carbon black are investigated in the frequency range (0.5-103) KHz and within the temperature range (26-80) oC. Dielectric permittivity and loss tangent reduced with increasing frequency and increase with increasing temperature. The ac conductivity σac for all samples were found to be weak frequency dependent at low frequency, however vary with frequency as a power law ωs at higher frequency range. The variation of frequency exponential factor s between 0.63 and 0.77, indicates a dominant hopping process at low temperatures. From the temperature dependence of dc conductivity, the increase of activation energy was observed with carbon black concentrations.

The aim of this article is to study the dielectric behavior (ε, σ) in microwaves domain of composites made with Epoxy Resin (RE), Carbon Black (CB), and Magnesium Titanate (MT) on a large band of frequency. This kind of composites is very solicited for applications and miniaturization of the components circuits (cavities, antennas, substrates, etc.) in hyperfrequency electronics. In this study we have also highlighted the effect of the fillers nature and their concentrations on the behavior of these composites. The results obtained by time domain spectroscopy (TDS) have revealed the strong dependence of complex permittivity of the composite materials on both the nature and the concentration of conductive environment. Low frequency analysis (500 MHz) has been investigated to determine the conductivity of composites which is related to the percolation phenomenon. Moreover, the comparison between experimental results and theoretical models shows that the modeling Lichtenecker law is applicable to the ternary mixture in this frequency range and is in accordance with the approach postulated by Bottreau.

For the purposes of accumulating knowledge of how to comply with requirements for new buildings of obligatory sound class C or enhanced acoustic comfort sound classes A and B (Lithuanian Building Technical regulations STR 2.01.07:2003), the article discusses improvement on airborne sound insulation of partitions between dwellings using additional plasterboard layers. The results of an empirical approach were obtained performing in situ measurements of the partitions of masonry from silicate blocks and expanded-clay concrete blocks. Theoretical calculations without the evaluation of flanking paths are added. The paper looks at the peculiarities of in situ measurement methods and the estimation of the limiting uncertainty of the sound reduction index. It is showed that the values of the in situ measurements of the airborne sound reduction index in accordance with requirements EN ISO 140 and EN ISO 717 series for rooms having volume higher than 50 m3 varies depending on frequency range. It has been stated, that improvement on the weighed airborne sound reduction index in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 3150 Hz depends on the properties of additional layers and on the characteristics of the main constructions. Resonance in the low frequency range arising due to additional layers may reduce the weighed airborne sound reduction index defined in the frequency range from 50 Hz to 3150 Hz. This fact must be taken into account when designing improvement on masonry wall insulation using an additional layer in dwellings.

ABSTRACTThe molecular relaxations behavior of chitosan (CS) films in the wide frequency range of 0.1-3x109 Hz (by using three different impedance analyzers) have been investigated in the temperature range of -100C to 120°C using Dielectric Spectroscopy (DS). Additionally to the low frequency molecular relaxations such as α and β relaxations, for the first time, high frequency (1-3 GHz) relaxation process has been observed in the chitosan films. This relaxation exhibits Arrhenius-type dependence in the temperature range of -100 C to 54°C with negative activation energy -2.7 kJ/mol. At temperatures above 54°C, the activation energy changes from -2.7 kJ/mol to +4.4 kJ/mol. Upon cooling, the activation energy becomes negative again with a value of -1.2 kJ/mol. The bound water between chitosan molecules strongly modifies molecular motion and the relaxation spectrum, giving rise to a new relaxation at the frequency at ca. 1 GHz. In situ FTIR analysis has shown that this relaxation related to the changes in vibration of the –OH, NH and –CO functional groups.

Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) is widely used as insulation in electrical engineering, especially as cable insulation sheaths. In order to improve the dielectric properties susceptible to be modified under the effects of thermal aging and water in an absorption environment, polymers are mixed with ceramics. In this paper, the influence of barium titanate (BaTiO3), on the dielectric properties of XLPE has been studied. Dielectric parameters have been measured using an impedance analyzer RLC (WAYNE KERR 6420 type). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction were used as characterization techniques. The study has been carried out on two samples of XLPE. A pure sample of each were studied as a unloaded samples to be compared with samples of 5%wt, 10%wt, 15%wt and 20%wt. BaTiO3 loaded XLPE. Afterwards, the composites were subject to humidity and to thermal aging. The incorporation of BaTiO3 1[Formula: see text]C does not modify the crystallinity and morphology of the XLPE and 2[Formula: see text]C reduces the space charges therefore the dielectric losses. [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and loss index are measured. Frequency response analysis has been followed in the frequency range (20–300 Hz). Experimental results show well that BaTiO3 as nano-filler improves the dielectric properties of XLPE but in excessive content can drive to the cracking and therefore to absorption of water.
