A competitive model of market structure with consumptive delays is considered. The local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of local Hopf bifurcation are investigated by analyzing the distribution of the roots of the associated characteristic equation. The explicit formulas determining the stability and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived by using normal form theory and center manifold argument. Finally, numerical simulations are given to support the analytical results.

A delayed SEIRS epidemic model with vertical transmission in computer network is considered. Sufficient conditions for local stability of the positive equilibrium and existence of local Hopf bifurcation are obtained by analyzing distribution of the roots of the associated characteristic equation. Furthermore, the direction of the local Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by using the normal form theory and center manifold theorem. Finally, a numerical example is presented to verify the theoretical analysis.

A predator-prey system with disease in the predator is investigated, where the discrete delayτis regarded as a parameter. Its dynamics are studied in terms of local analysis and Hopf bifurcation analysis. By analyzing the associated characteristic equation, it is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs whenτcrosses some critical values. Using the normal form theory and center manifold argument, the explicit formulae which determine the stability, direction, and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived.

The paper mainly focuses on a novel hyperchaotic system. The local stability of equilibrium is analyzed and existence of Hopf bifurcation is established. Moreover, formulas for determining the stability and direction of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived by center manifold theorem and normal form theory. Finally, numerical simulation is given to illustrate the theoretical analysis.

In this paper, we consider the following nonlinear differential equation [Formula: see text] We first consider the existence of local Hopf bifurcations, and then derive the explicit formulas which determine the stability, direction and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions, using the normal form theory and center manifold reduction. Further, particular attention is focused on the existence of the global Hopf bifurcation. By using the global Hopf bifurcation theory due to Wu [1998], we show that the local Hopf bifurcation of (1) implies the global Hopf bifurcation after the second critical value of the delay τ. Finally, numerical simulation results are given to support the theoretical predictions.

This paper is concerned with a prey-predator system with disease in the prey and two delays. Local stability of the positive equilibrium of the system and existence of local Hopf bifurcation are investigated by choosing different combinations of the two delays as bifurcation parameters. For further investigation, the direction and the stability of the Hopf bifurcation are determined by using the normal form method and center manifold theorem. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to support the theoretical analysis.

AbstractIn this paper, we are concerned with a delayed smoking model in which the population is divided into five classes. Sufficient conditions guaranteeing the local stability and existence of Hopf bifurcation for the model are established by taking the time delay as a bifurcation parameter and employing the Routh–Hurwitz criteria. Furthermore, direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcation are investigated by applying the center manifold theorem and normal form theory. Finally, computer simulations are implemented to support the analytic results and to analyze the effects of some parameters on the dynamical behavior of the model.

In this paper, a diffusive activator–inhibitor model in vascular mesenchymal cells is considered. On one hand, we investigate the stability of the equilibria of the system without diffusion. On the other hand, for the unique positive equilibrium of the system with diffusion the conditions ensuring stability, existence of Hopf and steady state bifurcations are given. By applying the center manifold and normal form theory, the normal forms corresponding to Hopf bifurcation and steady state bifurcation are derived explicitly. Numerical simulations are employed to illustrate where the spatially homogeneous and nonhomogeneous periodic solutions and the steady states can emerge. The numerical results verify the obtained theoretical conclusions.

A simple delayed neural network model with four neurons is considered. Linear stability of the model is investigated by analyzing the associated characteristic equation. It is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the sum of four delays varies and passes a sequence of critical values. The stability and direction of the Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. An example is given and numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the obtained results. Meanwhile, the bifurcation set is provided in the appropriate parameter plane.

AbstractThe stability and Hopf bifurcation of a delayed SIS epidemic model with double epidemic hypothesis are investigated in this paper. We first study the stability of the unique positive equilibrium of the model in four cases, and we obtain the stability conditions through analyzing the distribution of characteristic roots of the corresponding linearized system. Moreover, we choosing the delay as bifurcation parameter and the existence of Hopf bifurcation is investigated in detail. We can derive explicit formulas for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcation periodic solution by center manifold theorem and normal form theory. Finally, we perform the numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical results.
