This paper exploits the network outer synchronization problem in a generic context for complex networks with nonlinear time-delay characteristics and nonidentical time-varying topological structures. Based on the classic Lyapunov stability theory, the synchronization criteria and adaptive control strategy are presented, respectively, by adopting an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii energy function and the convergence of the system error can also be well proved. The existing results of network outer synchronization can be obtained by giving certain conditions, for example, treating the coupling matrices as time-invariant, and by applying the suggested generic synchronization criteria and control scheme. The numerical simulation experiments for networks scenarios with dynamic chaotic characteristics and time-varying topologies are carried out and the result verifies the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed control solution.

This paper is concerned with two-layer complex networks with unidirectional interlayer couplings, where the drive and response layer have time-varying coupling delay and different topological structures. An adaptive control scheme is proposed to investigate finite-time mixed interlayer synchronization (FMIS) of two-layer networks. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, a criterion for realizing FMIS is derived. In addition, several sufficient conditions for realizing mixed interlayer synchronization are given. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to verify the correctness and effectiveness of theoretical results. Meanwhile, the proposed adaptive control strategy is demonstrated to be nonfragile with the noise perturbation.

The outer synchronization problem between two complex networks with nondelayed and time-varying delayed couplings via two different control schemes, namely, pinning control and impulsive control, is considered. Firstly, by applying pinning control to a fraction of the network nodes and using a suitable Lyapunov function, we obtain some new and useful synchronization criteria, which guarantee the outer synchronization between two complex networks. Secondly, impulsive control is added to the nodes of corresponding response network. Based on the generalized inequality about time-varying delayed different equation, the sufficient conditions for outer synchronization are derived. Finally, some examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the results obtained in this paper.

This paper addresses the synchronization problem for a class of complex networks with time-varying topology as well as nonidentical nodes and coupling time-delay and presents two efficient control schemes to synchronize the network onto any given smooth goal dynamics. The time-varying network is supposed to be bounded within a certain range, which cannot be controlled. Through the adoption of hybrid control with linear static feedback control and adaptive feedback control, two control schemes are derived to guarantee such complex networks to reach the global synchronization. Finally, a set of numerical simulation experiments are carried out and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested control solutions.

Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, this paper mainly investigates the H∞ synchronization problem for semi-Markovian jump neural networks (semi-MJNNs) with randomly occurring time-varying delays (TVDs). The continuous-time semi-MJNNs, where the transition rates are dependent on sojourn time, are introduced to make the issue under our consideration more general. One of the main characteristics of our work is the handling of TVDs. In addition to using the improved Jensen inequality and the reciprocal convexity lemma to deal with the integral inequality, we also employ Schur complement and the projection lemma to achieve the decoupling between the square term of TVDs. Finally, we verify the validity and feasibility of our method by a couple of simulation examples.

The exponential synchronization problem is investigated for a class of moving agent networks in a two-dimensional space and exhibits time-varying topology structure. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, adaptive feedback controllers are developed to guarantee the exponential synchronization between each agent node. New criteria are proposed for verifying the locally and globally exponential synchronization of moving agent networks under the constraint of fast switching. In addition, a numerical example, including typical moving agent network with the Rössler system at each agent node, is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed design approach.

This paper addresses the hybrid synchronization problem in two nonlinearly coupled complex networks with asymmetrical coupling matrices under pinning control schemes. The hybrid synchronization of two complex networks is the outer antisynchronization between the driving network and the response network while the inner complete synchronization in the driving network and the response network. We will show that only a small number of pinning feedback controllers acting on some nodes are effective for synchronization control of the mentioned dynamical networks. Based on Lyapunov Stability Theory, some simple criteria for hybrid synchronization are derived for such dynamical networks by pinning control strategy. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

The paper presents a new urban public traffic supernetwork model by using the existing bus network modeling method, consisting of the conventional bus traffic network and the urban rail traffic network. We investigate the synchronization problem of urban public traffic supernetwork model by using the coupled complex network’s outer synchronization theory. Analytical and numerical simulations are given to illustrate the impact of traffic dispatching frequency and traffic lines optimization to the urban public traffic supernetwork balance.
