A delayed predator-prey system with Holling type II functional response and stage structure for both the predator and the prey is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of each of the feasible equilibria of the system is addressed and the existence of a Hopf bifurcation at the coexistence equilibrium is established. By means of persistence theory on infinite dimensional systems, it is proved that the system is permanent. By using Lyapunov functions and the LaSalle invariant principle, the global stability of each of the feasible equilibria of the model is discussed. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main theoretical results.

A Holling type II predator-prey model with time delay and stage structure for the predator is investigated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of each of feasible equilibria of the system is discussed. The existence of Hopf bifurcations at the coexistence equilibrium is established. By means of the persistence theory on infinite dimensional systems, it is proven that the system is permanent if the coexistence equilibrium exists. By using Lyapunov functionals and LaSalle’s invariance principle, it is shown that the predator-extinction equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when the coexistence equilibrium is not feasible, and the sufficient conditions are obtained for the global stability of the coexistence equilibrium.

A predator-prey system with Holling type II functional response and stage structure for prey is presented. The local and global stability are studied by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation and using comparison theorem. The existence of a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium is also studied. Some numerical simulations are also given to illustrate our results.

Abstract In this paper, we consider a Beddington-DeAngelis predator-prey system with stage structure for predator and time delay incorporating prey refuge. By analyzing the characteristic equations, we study the local stability of the equilibrium of the system. Using the delay as a bifurcation parameter, the model undergoes a Hopf bifurcation at the coexistence equilibrium when the delay crosses some critical values. After that, by constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions are derived for the global stability of the system. Finally, the influence of prey refuge on densities of prey species and predator species is discussed.

In this paper, we consider a predator-prey system with two time delays, which describes a prey–predator model with parental care for predators. The local stability of the positive equilibrium is analysed. By choosing the two time delays as the bifurcation parameter, the existence of Hopf bifurcation is studied. Numerical simulations show the positive equilibrium loses its stability via the Hopf bifurcation when the time delay increases beyond a threshold.
