To evaluate diagnostic performance of real-time tissue elastography (RTE) with a low frequency convex array probe for distinguishing benign from malignant hepatic tumors through trans-abdominal examination, elasticity images of 210 liver tumors were obtained by EUB-7500 (Hitachi Medical Systems and 3.5 MHz probe) and eventually 121 liver tumors were analyzed in the study. Elasticity images were classified into four types, from type a to d. Regarding type a or b as benign tumors and type c or d as malignant ones, sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were calculated and the consistency between the findings of RTE and the pathohistological diagnosis was evaluated. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were separately 97.2%, 88.0%, and 93.4% (P<0.001). Moreover, there was a good consistency between the findings of RTE and the pathological diagnosis (kappa value 0.86). Among elasticity images of all the malignant tumors, the hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) mainly appeared in type c, and liver metastatic cancers in type d. Thus, RTE utilized as a novel noninvasive imaging examination method enables us to distinguish benign from malignant liver tumors. Moreover, it provides certain information for the differential diagnosis between HCCs and liver metastatic cancers.

The sunrise effect is a characteristic feature of very low frequency and low frequency radio waves propagated over a large distance. The 40 kHz signal level, transmitted from Miyakoji station (37.4° N, 140.9° E), Japan, and received at Tripura University (23° N, 91.4° E), is found to be attenuated during sunrise with an enhancement before the decrease in the signal level. On the basis of the nature of attenuation of the observed records from 2005 to 2006, those are classified into four different types, namely, type A (three step attenuation), type B (two step attenuation), type C (one step attenuation), and type D (no attenuation). During geomagnetically active days, 84% of type D cases and 31% of type C cases are observed, whereas only 0.9% of type A cases and 7% of type B cases are observed during geomagnetically active days. The fade amplitude of type C fade is also found to maintain a good negative correlation of 77.3% with the geomagnetic Ap indices over the period of 2 years. From the model calculation it is found that in the altitude range from 65 to 80 km, on average the electron density increases by a factor of 5.22 times during geomagnetically active days versus normal days.

Background: Thousands of people die every day around the world from infections acquired in a hospital. Hands are the main pathways of germ transmission during healthcare. Hand hygiene monitoring can be performed using various methods. One of the latest techniques that can combine all is a neural network-based hand hygiene monitoring system. Methods/Design: Each participant performed 3 hand-washing trials, each time receiving different type of feedback. The order in which each participant of the study used the developed applications was strictly defined, thus each hand-washing study session started with performing hand washing using application A, B and C accordingly. All captured videos of hand-wash episodes were saved and later analysed with neural networks. In the end, both evaluation results were compared and evaluated. Results show that when the participants use Application Type A, they perform hand washing much faster, as well as in comparison of Application Type A versus application type C. However, the longest time spent for the hand washing was detected while using the application type B. Conclusion: Study shows that structured guidance provided during the real time hand washing could be associated with better overall performance. The Application C has confirmed its effectiveness. Proving its advantage among other applications, the Application C can be integrated into the clinical environment

Objective: To investigate the effect of endoscopic ultrasound real-time tissue elastography in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant digestive system tumors. Methods: Forty-two patients with solid tumors of digestive system who were admitted to our hospital between October 2017 and October 2018 were selected. All patients were diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasound real-time tissue elastography. Elastography score was used. The strain ratios (SR) of the lesion and the surrounding control tissues were measured and compared. Results: Lesions with elastography score no more than two points were evaluated as benign, while lesions with elastography score no less than three points were evaluated as malignant. The difference of the elastography score between the benign lesion group and malignant lesion group was statistically significant (P<0.05). The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound elastography in the diagnosis of malignant tumors of digestive system were 91.4%, 88.9% and 87.5%, respectively. The SR of the benign lesions ranged from 0.01 to 7.34, with a median SR of 7.33; the SR of the malignant lesions ranged from 1.01 to 47.66, with a median SR of 20.07. The SR of the benign lesions was significantly lower than that of the malignant lesions (P<0.05). Conclusion: Elastography of benign and malignant tissues of digestive tract tumors has different image characteristics. Endoscopic ultrasound real-time tissue elastography is effective in differential diagnosis of digestive tract tumors as it can effectively determine whether a tumor is benign or malignant and improve diagnostic accuracy. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.35.5.1075 How to cite this:Lv H, Zhu G, Zhou L. Abstract: objective: to study and analyze the effect of real-time endoscopic ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis of gastrointestinal tumors.Selection methods: between January 2014 and January 2015 xinyang 53 cases of digestive system cancer patients admitted in hospital, a total of 79 substantial tumor of the digestive system lesions, all patients were diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasonography real-time tissue elastography, use elastic imaging score, for patients with lesions and their surrounding structures control the elastic strain rate ratio of measure and comparison analysis. Results: compared with the malignant lesion group, the difference between the benign lesion group and the benign lesion group was statistically significant (P<0.05).The ratio of elastic strain rate in benign lesion group was lower than that in malignant lesion group (P<0.05).The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity and specificity were 91.14%, 94.74% and 81.82% respectively. Conclusion: endoscopic ultrasound real-time tissue elastography is effective in the differential diagnosis of digestive system tumors, and can effectively determine the benign and malignant tumors and improve the diagnostic accuracy.
