Gastric necrosis due to acute massive gastric dilatation is relatively rare. Vascular reasons, herniation, volvulus, acute gastric dilatation, anorexia, and bulimia nervosa play a role in the etiology of the disease. Early diagnosis and treatment are highly important as the associated morbidity and mortality rates are high. In this case report, we present a case of gastric necrosis due to acute gastric dilatation accompanied with the relevant literature.

Tuberous sclerosis is a disorder affecting multiple organs leading to morbidity and mortality. It is important to make an early diagnosis of tuberous sclerosis so that lifelong monitoring, early recognition of complications and proactive treatment can lower the morbidity and mortality rates. Here we report a case of a 50-year-old male who presented with seizure. This case report emphasizes the importance of complete evaluation of a case presenting with seizures. Tuberous sclerosis must be included in the differentials if patient presents with seizures, skin manifestations and mental retardation.Birdem Med J 2016; 6(2): 127-129

Dogs (n = 136) with gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) syndrome were followed over time to measure recurrence and mortality rates and to identify prognostic factors. Thirty-three (24.3%) died or were euthanized during the first seven days. Of 85 cases that were followed for up to three years, nine (10.6%) cases each had a recurrence of GDV and seven (8.2%) cases died or were euthanized. The median survival times for cases that had gastropexies and those that did not were 547 and 188 days, respectively. Depressed or comatose cases on admission were three and 36 times, respectively, more likely to die than alert cases, while cases with gastric necrosis were 11 times more likely to die.

Foreign body aspiration (FBA) is common in children. Especially in children, the majority of accidental deaths occur due to FBA. Morbidity and mortality rates increase, especially in children between the ages of one and four, and as a result of delay in diagnosis. The most common symptoms in patients with FBA are cough, dyspnea, hemoptysis, stridor and wheezing. In this case report, a patient who presented with sudden respiratory distress in the Pediatric Emergency Department was presented and the importance of anamnesis and respiratory examination in the diagnosis of FBA was emphasized.

Background: Pink spots in teeth were first described by Mummery in 1920, and were related to resorption. Resorption is a pathologic process that often eludes the clinician with its varied etiologic factors and diverse clinical presentations. Resorption can be generally classified as internal and external resorption. Internal resorption has been described as a rare occurrence as compared to external resorption. Case report: This article describes a pink spot that was diagnosed as a progressing resorption process. Early diagnosis enabled a successful management of the lesion. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and treatment of an internal resorption, clinically seen as a pink spot, in a primary central incisor may prevent its fast progress and subsequent loss.

ABSTRACTSupernumerary teeth occur frequently in permanent dentition, but they are rarely found in primary dentition. Supernumerary teeth of orthodox shape and size that resemble normal dentition are called ‘supplemental teeth’. Supplemental teeth are less common than supernumerary teeth and are often overlooked because of their normal shape and size. Supplemental teeth may cause esthetic problems, delayed eruption and crowding, and they require early diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications. The case reported here is one of bilateral supplemental teeth impeding the eruption of permanent maxillary lateral incisors, and it emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis and treatment during early mixed dentition.
