A new electronically controllable sinusoidal oscillator employing two voltage differencing-differential input buffered amplifiers (VD-DIBAs), two grounded capacitors, and one grounded resistor is presented. The proposed configuration offers (i) independent control of condition of oscillation (CO) and frequency of oscillation (FO) formerly by resistance and later through transconductance, (ii) low active and passive sensitivities, and (iii) a good frequency stability. The workability of the proposed configuration has been demonstrated by SPICE simulation.

This paper presents a new single-resistance-controlled sinusoidal oscillator (SRCO). The proposed oscillator employs only one voltage differencing differential input buffered amplifier (VD-DIBA), two resistors, and two grounded capacitors. The proposed configuration offers the following advantageous features: (i) independent control of condition of oscillation and frequency of oscillation, (ii) low active and passive sensitivities, and (iii) a very good frequency stability. The validity of the proposed SRCO has been established by SPICE simulations using 0.35 μm MIETEC technology.

A new current-mode sinusoidal oscillator employing a single voltage differencing transconductance amplifier (VDTA), two grounded capacitors, and one grounded resistor has been proposed. The proposed sinusoidal oscillator offers the following advantageous features: (i) use of grounded capacitors which are attractive from the view point of IC implementation as well as eliminating/accommodating parasitic capacitances, (ii) independent control of frequency of oscillation and condition of oscillation, (iii) ready availability of explicit current-mode output, (iv) low active and passive sensitivities, and (v) a very good frequency stability. The workability of the proposed configuration has been established by PSPICE simulations.

A new configuration for realizing current-follower-based sinusoidal oscillator is presented. The circuit uses two unity-gain current followers, three capacitors, and three resistors, and enjoys independent control of its frequency and condition of oscillation. Experimental results are included.

This study proposes three new sinusoidal oscillators based on an operational transresistance amplifier (OTRA). Each of the proposed oscillator circuits consists of one OTRA combined with a few passive components. The first circuit is an OTRA-based minimum RC oscillator. The second circuit is capable of providing independent control on the condition of oscillation without affecting the oscillation frequency. The third circuit exhibits independent control of oscillation frequency through a capacitor. This study first introduces the OTRA and the related formulations of the proposed oscillator circuits, and then discusses the nonideal effects, sensitivity analyses, and frequency stability of the presented circuits. The proposed oscillators exhibit low sensitivities and good frequency stability. Because the presented circuits feature low impedance output, they can be connected directly to the next stage without cascading additional voltage buffers. HSPICE simulations and experimental results confirm the feasibility of the new oscillator circuits.

A new active circuit is proposed for the realisation of lossless grounded and floating inductance employing Voltage Differencing Differential Input Buffered Amplifiers (VD-DIBAs). The proposed grounded simulated inductance circuit employs two VD-DIBAs and a single-grounded capacitor whereas the floating simulated inductance circuit employs three VD-DIBAs and a grounded capacitor. The circuit for grounded inductance does not require any realization conditions whereas in case of floating inductance, only equality of two transconductances is needed. Some sample results demonstrating the applications of the new simulated inductors using VD-DIBAs have been given to confirm the workability of the new circuits.

Circuit Configuration

For designing GMI sensors, realization of current/voltage-mode (dual-mode) quadrature sinusoidal oscillator with the employment of current follower transconductance amplifier (CFTA) as the active component is presented. The proposed circuit configuration comprising two CFTAs, one grounded resistor and two grounded capacitors can simultaneously provide two explicit quadrature output currents and two quadrature output voltages. Moreover, the proposed circuit topology enjoys the advantage of independent control of the condition of oscillation and frequency of oscillation and good active and passive sensitivity performances. The functionality of the proposed quadrature oscillators has been verified by PSPICE simulations.
