The global asymptotic behavior of a nonautonomous competitor-competitor-mutualist model is investigated, where all the coefficients are time-dependent and asymptotically approach periodic functions, respectively. Under certain conditions, it is shown that the limit periodic system of this asymptotically periodic model admits two positive periodic solutions(u1T,u2T,u3T),  (u1T,u2T,u3T)such thatuiT≤uiT  (i=1,2,3), and the sector{(u1,u2,u3):uiT≤ui≤uiT,  i=1,2,3}is a global attractor of the asymptotically periodic model. In particular, we derive sufficient conditions that guarantee the existence of a positive periodic solution which is globally asymptotically stable.

AbstractIn this paper, a two-species nonautonomous Lotka-Volterra model of population growth in a polluted environment is proposed. Global asymptotic behaviour of this model by constructing suitable bounded functions has been investigated. It is proved that each population for competition, predation and cooperation systems respectively is uniformly persistent (permanent) under appropriate conditions. Sufficient conditions are derived to confirm that if each of competition, predation and cooperation systems respectively admits a positive periodic solution, then it is globally asymptotically stable.

We will consider the following nonlinear impulsive delay differential equationN′(t)=r(t)N(t)((K(t)−N(t−mw))/(K(t)+λ(t)N(t−mw))), a.e.t>0,t≠tk,N(tk+)=(1+bk)N(tk),K=1,2,…, wheremis a positive integer,r(t),K(t),λ(t)are positive periodic functions of periodicω. In the nondelay case(m=0), we show that the above equation has a unique positive periodic solutionN*(t)which is globally asymptotically stable. In the delay case, we present sufficient conditions for the global attractivity ofN*(t). Our results imply that under the appropriate periodic impulsive perturbations, the impulsive delay equation preserves the original periodic property of the nonimpulsive delay equation. In particular, our work extends and improves some known results.

A nonautonomous Leslie-Gower type food chain model with time delays is investigated. It is proved the general nonautonomous system is permanent and globally asymptotically stable under some appropriate conditions. Furthermore, if the system is periodic one, some sufficient conditions are established, which guarantee the existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability of a positive periodic solution of the system. The conditions for the permanence, global stability of system, and the existence, uniqueness of positive periodic solution depend on delays; so, time delays are profitless.

We give here the sufficient conditions on the positive solutions of the difference equation xn+1 = α+M((xn−1)/xn), n = 0, 1, …, where M is an Orlicz function, α∈ (0, ∞) with arbitrary positive initials x−1, x0 to be bounded, α-convergent and the equilibrium point to be globally asymptotically stable. Finally we present the condition for which every positive solution converges to a prime two periodic solution. Our results coincide with that known for the cases M(x) = x in Ref. [3] and M(x) = xk, where k ∈ (0, ∞) in Ref. [7]. We have given the solution of open problem proposed in Ref. [7] about the existence of the positive solution which eventually alternates above and below equilibrium and converges to the equilibrium point. Some numerical examples with figures will be given to show our results.

An epidemic model with a class of nonlinear incidence rates and distributed delay is analyzed. The nonlinear incidence is used to describe the saturated or the psychological effect of certain serious epidemics on the community when the number of infectives is getting larger. The distributed delay is derived to describe the dynamics of infectious diseases with varying immunity. Lyapunov functionals are used to show that the disease-free equilibrium state is globally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number is less than or equal to one. Moreover, it is shown that the disease is permanent if the basic reproduction number is greater than one. Furthermore, the sufficient conditions under which the endemic equilibrium is locally and globally asymptotically stable are obtained.

In this paper, a discrete ratio-dependent food-chain system with delay is investigated. By using Gaines and Mawhin’s continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory and the method of Lyapunov function, a set of sufficient conditions for the existence of positive periodic solutions and global asymptotic stability of the model are established.

With the help of a continuation theorem based on Gaines and Mawhin's coincidence degree, easily verifiable criteria are established for the global existence of positive periodic solutions of a delayed ratio-dependent predator-prey system with stage structure for predator. The approach involves some new technique of priori estimate. For the system without delay, by constructing a suitable Lyapunov function, some sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of a unique global attractive positive periodic solution are obtained. Those results have further applications in population dynamics.

We give in this work the sufficient conditions on the positive solutions of the difference equationxn+1=α+(xn-1m/xnk),  n=0,1,…, whereα,k, andm∈(0,∞)under positive initial conditionsx-1,  x0to be bounded,α-convergent, the equilibrium point to be globally asymptotically stable and that every positive solution converges to a prime two-periodic solution. Our results coincide with that known for the casesm=k=1of Amleh et al. (1999) andm=1of Hamza and Morsy (2009). We offer improving conditions in the case ofm=1of Gümüs and Öcalan (2012) and explain our results by some numerical examples with figures.
