A class of new hyperchaotic systems with different nonlinear terms is proposed, and the existence of hyperchaos is exhibited by calculating their Lyapunov exponent spectrums. Then the universal theories on modified projective synchronization (MPS) of the systems with general form which linearly depends on unknown parameters or time-varying parameters, are investigated by presenting an adaptive control strategy together with parameter update laws and a nonlinear control scheme based on Lyapunov stability theory. Subsequently, the presented control methods are applied to achieve MPS of the new hyperchaotic systems, and their effectiveness is illustrated by numerical simulations.

Universal projective synchronization (UPS) of two chaotic systems is defined. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, an adaptive control method is derived such that UPS of two different hyperchaotic systems with unknown parameters is realized, which is up to a scaling function matrix and three kinds of reference systems, respectively. Numerical simulations are used to verify the effectiveness of the scheme.

This paper is concerned with two-layer complex networks with unidirectional interlayer couplings, where the drive and response layer have time-varying coupling delay and different topological structures. An adaptive control scheme is proposed to investigate finite-time mixed interlayer synchronization (FMIS) of two-layer networks. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, a criterion for realizing FMIS is derived. In addition, several sufficient conditions for realizing mixed interlayer synchronization are given. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to verify the correctness and effectiveness of theoretical results. Meanwhile, the proposed adaptive control strategy is demonstrated to be nonfragile with the noise perturbation.

This work is concerned with the general methods for the function projective synchronization (FPS) of chaotic (or hyperchaotic) systems. The aim is to investigate the FPS of different chaotic (hyper-chaotic) systems with unknown parameters. The adaptive control law and the parameter update law are derived to make the states of two different chaotic systems asymptotically synchronized up to a desired scaling function by Lyapunov stability theory. The general approach for FPS of Chen hyperchaotic system and Lü system is provided. Numerical simulations are also presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

The concept of complete switched generalized function projective synchronization (CSGFPS) in practical type is introduced and the CSGFPS of a class of hyperchaotic systems with unknown parameters and disturbance inputs are investigated. By Lyapunov stability theory, the adaptive control law and the parameter update law are derived to make the states of a class of hyperchaotic systems asymptotically synchronized up to a desired scaling function and the unknown parameters are also estimated. In numerical simulations, the scaling function factors discussed in this paper are more complicated. Finally, the hyperchaotic Lorenz and hyperchaotic Lü systems are taken, for example, and the numerical simulations are presented to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed control scheme.

AbstractFunction projective synchronization (FPS) of two novel hyperchaotic systems with four-scroll attractors which have been found up to the present is investigated. Adaptive control is employed in the situation that system parameters are unknown. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, an adaptive controller and a parameter update law are designed so that the two systems can be synchronized asymptotically by FPS. Numerical simulation is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive controller and the parameter update law.

This paper proposes the modified projective synchronization of uncertain chaotic systems with unknown parameters via active adaptive sliding mode control (AASMC). The disturbances are considered both in the drive and the response system. The bounds of the disturbances are unknown. The adaptive updating laws are designed to tackle the unknown parameters. Moreover, the robustness and stability of the proposed AASMC is proved by the Lyapunov stability theory. Some numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the robustness and efficiency of the proposed scheme.

This paper deals with the modified projective synchronization between two fractional-order four-dimensional (4D) hyperchaotic systems. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, a new controller for the synchronization of two fractional-order hyperchaotic systems is developed. The stability analysis of the error dynamics system is performed by the fractional-order Lyapunov direct method alongwith Routh–Hurwitz stability criterion. Numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the validity and verify the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme.

Abstract In this paper, we investigate a hybrid projective combination–combination synchronization scheme among four non-identical hyperchaotic systems via adaptive control method. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, the considered approach identifies the unknown parameters and determines the asymptotic stability globally. It is observed that various synchronization techniques, for instance, chaos control problem, combination synchronization, projective synchronization, etc. turn into particular cases of combination–combination synchronization. The proposed scheme is applicable to secure communication and information processing. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the effectivity and correctness of the considered technique by using MATLAB.

The minimal control synthesis (MCS) algorithm is an adaptive control strategy that requires no prior knowledge of plant dynamic parameters, and yet is guaranteed to provide global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. The purpose of this paper is to present MCS as applied to web tension und transport control a class of plant that has highly non-linear dynamics and time-varying parameters. The plant is difficult to control by conventional methods over its full operating range. A typical example and model of such a plant is presented along with the implementation of MCS. Experimental comparisons of MCS with conventional control benchmarks are provided. It will be seen that MCS significantly outperforms the conventional controller.
