A set S ⊆ V of a graph G = V , E is called a co-independent liar’s dominating set of G if (i) for all v ∈ V , N G v ∩ S ≥ 2 , (ii) for every pair u , v ∈ V of distinct vertices, N G u ∪ N G v ∩ S ≥ 3 , and (iii) the induced subgraph of G on V − S has no edge. The minimum cardinality of vertices in such a set is called the co-independent liar’s domination number of G , and it is denoted by γ coi L R G . In this paper, we introduce the concept of co-independent liar’s domination number of the middle graph of some standard graphs such as path and cycle graphs, and we propose some bounds on this new parameter.

This paper is devoted to the study of the quasi-total strong differential of a graph, and it is a contribution to the Special Issue “Theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics” of Symmetry. Given a vertex x∈V(G) of a graph G, the neighbourhood of x is denoted by N(x). The neighbourhood of a set X⊆V(G) is defined to be N(X)=⋃x∈XN(x), while the external neighbourhood of X is defined to be Ne(X)=N(X)∖X. Now, for every set X⊆V(G) and every vertex x∈X, the external private neighbourhood of x with respect to X is defined as the set Pe(x,X)={y∈V(G)∖X:N(y)∩X={x}}. Let Xw={x∈X:Pe(x,X)≠⌀}. The strong differential of X is defined to be ∂s(X)=|Ne(X)|−|Xw|, while the quasi-total strong differential of G is defined to be ∂s*(G)=max{∂s(X):X⊆V(G)andXw⊆N(X)}. We show that the quasi-total strong differential is closely related to several graph parameters, including the domination number, the total domination number, the 2-domination number, the vertex cover number, the semitotal domination number, the strong differential, and the quasi-total Italian domination number. As a consequence of the study, we show that the problem of finding the quasi-total strong differential of a graph is NP-hard.

Abstract Let G = (V;E) be a graph. A set S ⊂ V (G) is a hop dominating set of G if for every v ∈ V - S, there exists u ∈ S such that d(u; v) = 2. The minimum cardinality of a hop dominating set of G is called a hop domination number of G and is denoted by γh(G). In this paper we characterize the family of trees and unicyclic graphs for which γh(G) = γt(G) and γh(G) = γc(G) where γt(G) and γc(G) are the total domination and connected domination numbers of G respectively. We then present the strong equality of hop domination and hop independent domination numbers for trees. Hop domination numbers of shadow graph and mycielskian graph of graph are also discussed.

For any integer [Formula: see text], a minus total [Formula: see text]-dominating function is a function [Formula: see text] satisfying [Formula: see text] for every [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text]. The minimum of the values of [Formula: see text], taken over all minus total [Formula: see text]-dominating functions [Formula: see text], is called the minus total [Formula: see text]-domination number and is denoted by [Formula: see text]. In this paper, we initiate the study of minus total [Formula: see text]-domination in graphs, and we present different sharp bounds on [Formula: see text]. In addition, we determine the minus total [Formula: see text]-domination number of some classes of graphs. Some of our results are extensions of known properties of the minus total domination number [Formula: see text].

A distance - 2 dominating set D V of a graph G is a split distance - 2 dominating set if the induced sub graph <V-D> is disconnected. The split distance - 2 domination number is the minimum cardinality of a split distance - 2 dominating set. In this paper, we defined the notion of split distance - 2 domination in graph. We got many bounds on distance - 2 split domination number. Exact values of this new parameter are obtained for some standard graphs. Nordhaus - Gaddum type results are also obtained for this new parameter.

Let $G$ be a finite simple graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. A function $f : V(G) \rightarrow \mathcal{P}(\{1, 2, \dotsc, k\})$ is a \textit{$k$-rainbow dominating function} on $G$ if for each vertex $v \in V(G)$ for which $f(v)= \emptyset$, it holds that $\bigcup_{u \in N(v)}f(u) = \{1, 2, \dotsc, k\}$. The weight of a $k$-rainbow dominating function is the value $\sum_{v \in V(G)}|f(v)|$. The \textit{$k$-rainbow domination number} $\gamma_{rk}(G)$ is the minimum weight of a $k$-rainbow dominating function on $G$. In this paper, we initiate the study of $k$-rainbow domination numbers in middle graphs. We define the concept of a middle $k$-rainbow dominating function, obtain some bounds related to it and determine the middle $3$-rainbow domination number of some classes of graphs. We also provide upper and lower bounds for the middle $3$-rainbow domination number of trees in terms of the matching number. In addition, we determine the $3$-rainbow domatic number for the middle graph of paths and cycles.

The Impact

The aim of this article is to introduce a new definition of domination number in graphs called hn-domination number denoted by . This paper presents some properties which show the concepts of connected and independent hn-domination. Furthermore, some bounds of these parameters are determined, specifically, the impact on hn-domination parameter is studied thoroughly in this paper when a graph is modified by deleting or adding a vertex or deleting an edge.

An r-dynamic coloring of a graph G is a proper coloring of G such that every vertex in V(G) has neighbors in at least $\min\{d(v),r\}$ different color classes. The r-dynamic chromatic number of graph G denoted as $\chi_r (G)$, is the least k such that G has a coloring. In this paper we obtain the r-dynamic chromatic number of the central graph, middle graph, total graph, line graph, para-line graph and sub-division graph of the comb graph $P_n\odot K_1$ denoted by $C(P_n\odot K_1), M(P_n\odot K_1), T(P_n\odot K_1), L(P_n\odot K_1), P(P_n\odot K_1)$ and $S(P_n\odot K_1)$ respectively by finding the upper bound and lower bound for the r-dynamic chromatic number of the Comb graph.
