The paper examines poverty alleviation through optimizing the marketing of Garcinia kola and Irvingia gabonensis in Ondo State, Nigeria. Data for this study were collected using structured questionnaire. Two categories of pretested structured questionnaires were used to obtain information from the respondents (farmers and the marketers of the species). Data analysis was done using descriptive analysis, and Student t-test was used to compare the income generated by the producers and the marketers of the fruits of the tree species. In addition, analysis of variance (ANOVA), arranged in randomized complete block design, was employed to test the significance of price variable across the three market structures (i.e., farm gate price, rural market price, and urban market price). Marketing of forest fruits species is a profitable enterprise with an average profit of ₦19,123.37 per marketer per month. The analysis of variance for the two forest fruit species indicated that Irvingia gabonensis generated the highest annual income in rainforest ecosystem while Garcinia kola generated the highest annual income in derived savanna ecosystem. Major constraints militating against these forest fruit species are poor market access and infrastructure development. The paper recommended among other things that domestication and interventions of these forest fruit species should be encouraged for proper management and sustainability.

The present paper aims to evaluate the influence of the factors (belt speed, pressure and grit size) on the output parameters (temperature and surface roughness) for Pinus elliottii wood sanding, processed parallel to the fibers. Three levels of belt speed, three levels of pressure and four levels of grit size were employed, with six replicates for each process, totaling 216 observations. The experiment conducted under a randomized complete block design (RCBD). The results were analyzed employing the analysis of variance (ANOVA) with 5% of significance level. Only grit sizes were significant to different temperature levels. The same outcome was observed for roughness, where only grits sizes were significant. No interaction between the pressure and belt speed factors were observed for all the results analyzed.

<p>ABSTRAK<br />Penelitian mengenai jarak tanam dan pemupukan untuk tanaman<br />rosela merah (Hibiscus sabdariffa var. sabdariffa) belum banyak dilakukan.<br />Suatu penelitian, yang dilakukan di Desa Kanyoran, Kecamatan Semen,<br />Kabupaten Kediri pada tahun 2010, bertujuan untuk mendapatkan jarak<br />tanam dan dosis pupuk NPK majemuk yang tepat bagi pertumbuhan serta<br />produksi kelopak bunga rosela merah dan analisis usaha tani. Perlakuan<br />disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan 3 ulangan.<br />Sebagai faktor pertama adalah 3 ukuran jarak tanam yang terdiri atas 1) 80<br />x 50 cm; 2) 100 x 50 cm; dan 3) 120 x 50 cm; dan sebagai faktor kedua<br />adalah 5 dosis pupuk NPK majemuk yang terdiri atas a) 30 kg NPK/ha; b)<br />37,50 kg NPK/ha; c) 45 kg NPK/ha; d) 52,50 kg NPK/ha; dan e) 60 kg<br />NPK/ha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi interaksi antara jarak<br />tanam (100 x 50 cm) dengan dosis pupuk (45 kg NPK/ha) yang<br />memberikan pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman, jumlah cabang produktif,<br />jumlah buah, bobot kelopak bunga berbiji, bobot biji, bobot basah kelopak<br />bunga tanpa biji, dan bobot kelopak bunga kering maksimal, masing-<br />masing sebesar 186,63 cm; 16,33 cabang; 117,00 buah; 41,33 kg/petak;<br />16,17 kg/petak; 26,67 kg/petak; dan 2,35 kg/petak (652,75 kg/ha). Usaha<br />tani rosela merah memberikan keuntungan sebesar Rp 10.420.000/ha<br />dengan B/C = 1,49. Harga pokok kelopak bunga kering sebesar<br />Rp13.031/kg lebih kecil dibanding harga pasar (Rp 40.000/kg), dan dapat<br />dijamin tidak akan terjadi kerugian bagi petani<br />Kata kunci : Hibiscus sabdariffa var. sabdariffa, jarak tanam, pupuk NPK<br />majemuk, pertumbuhan, produksi</p><p>ABSTRACT<br />There has been no research program on plant spacing and fertilization on<br />red roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa var. sabdariffa) up to 2010. A study<br />conducted in Desa Kanyoran, Kecamatan Semen, Kediri in 2010, aimed at<br />getting appropriate plant spacing and NPK compound fertilizer dosage for<br />growth and calyx production of red roselle, as well as its farm analysis.<br />The experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized block design with<br />three replicates. As the first factor were 3 dimensions of plant spacing<br />consisting of 1) 80 x 50, 2) 100 x 50, and 3) 120 x 50 cm, and the second<br />factor were 5 doses of NPK compound fertilizer consisting of a) 30, b)<br />37.50, c) 45, d) 52.50, and e) 60 kg NPK/ha. The results showed that there<br />was an interaction between plant spacing (100 x 50 cm) with fertilizer<br />dosage (45 kg NPK/ha), which resulted in plant height, number of<br />productive branches, number of fruits, weight calyx with seed, seed<br />weight, fresh weight of seedless calyx, and maximum dry weight of calyx,<br />each amounting to 186.63 cm; 16.33 branches; 117.00 fruits; 41.33<br />kg/plot; 16.17 kg/plot; 26.67 kg/plot; and 2.35 kg/plot (652.75 kg/ha),<br />respectively. Red roselle farm provided a gain of Rp10,420,000/ha with a<br />B/C of 1.49. The purposes of this research the examine the effectiveness various concentrations neem leaf ekstract on the intensity of attack Liriomyza spp on shallot Lembah Palu variety . Field research was carried out in Guntarano Village, Tanantovea Subdistrict, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi.  This research conducted from February to April 2016 .The experiment was done using Randomized Complete Block  Design with three replications, consists of six  treatments, i.e. P0 : control (without aplication neem leaf ekstract); P1: neem leaf ekstract 10 gr /litre;  P2 : neem leaf ekstract 20 gr / litre; P3 : neem leaf ekstract 30 gr / litre; P4 : neem leaf ekstract 40 gr / litre; P5 : neem leaf ekstract 50 gr / litre. To find out the effect of threatment, the analysis of variance, and the real influence is continued with the standard  ά = 0.05 BNT test.  The results showed that use of seed and leaf extracts of neem plant can control Liriomyza spp attack, only 3,04 percent of attack rate and shallot Lembah Palu variety productivity is 3,02/area.

This research was conducted in Pante Cermin, Padang Tiji Subdistrict, Pidie District. in March to August 2015, with the aim to know the use efficienci of Trichoderma sp on the growth of several types of Banana seedlings (Musa Paracica L.) This research using Randomized Block Design (RAK) factorial pattern with the factors studied is the type of banana and trichoderma dose . Both factors consist of 4 levels: Banana Barangan (J1), Ambon banana (J2), Banana King (J3) and Geupok banana (J4). While the dose of Tricoderma sp is: TO = 0 g / seeds T1 = 15 g / seeds T2 = 30 g / seedlings and T3 = 45 g / seedlings. So there are 16 treatment combinations and repeated 3 times, which resulted in 48 experimental units.To determine the influence of each treatment and its interaction on the growth of banana seedlings, the analysis of variance (Test F) and continued with the test of Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ) at 5% level.The results showed that the growth of good banana seedlings among 4 species studied was shown by Barangan bananas, but not unlike bananas. However, trichoderma administration until the age of 4 months has not shown the growth and intensity of different attacks. So it should be extended the study period to 6 months. After 6 months of research there has been a difference in growth and intensity of attack, where the intensity of the greatest attack is shown by T0 (without trichoderma). Medium intensity of smallest attack is shown by T3 (Dose trichoderma sp 45 gr / banana seedlings). The type of banana does not affect the growth and intensity of fusarium wilt attack. and the interaction of these two factors had no significant effect on the growth of banana seedlings and the intensity of Fusarium wilt disease.

The purpose of this research was to know the best combination of rice bran and grains of rice flour that cloud be seen from some quality components of cookies include moisture, protein and ash content, organoleptic quality such as flavour referring to National Indonesian Standard (SNI). This research use Compoletely Randomized Block Design, consist of six treatments (100% wheat flour, 30% rice bran: 70% grains of rice flour, 40% rice bran: 60% grains of rice flour, 50% rice bran: 50% grains of rice flour, 60% rice bran: 40% grains of rice flour, 70% rice bran: 30% grains of rice flour) with three replications. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance diversity at 5% significance level using Co-Stat Software and tested further using Orthogonal Polynomials test if there was real difference. The results showed that the proportion of rice bran and grain of rice flour had significant effect on taste, aroma, texture and color (hedonic and scoring), protein and ash content, but not significantly different to moisture of cookies. The results of this study also showed that the proportion of white rice brain and grains of rice flour which produced cookies with the best quality in accordance with SNI quality requirements was the treatment of 30% rice bran: 70% grains of rice flour (4.8008% moisture, 6.0461% protein content and 1.9274% ash content, with flavor, aroma, texture and color which was very favored by the panelists where cookies with yellowish brown color and slightly crunchy texture). ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kombinasi terbaik dari tepung bekatul dan tepung menirterbaik dilihat dari beberapa komponen mutu cookies meliputi kadarair, kadar protein, kadar abu dan mutu organoleptik seperti bau, rasa, aroma dan tekstur yang mengacu pada Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), terdiri dari enam perlakuan (Tepung terigu 100%, Tepung Bekatul 30%: Tepung Menir 70%, Tepung Bekatul 40% : Tepung Menir 60%, Tepung Bekatul 50% : Tepung Menir 50%, Tepung Bekatul 60% : Tepung Menir 40% dan Tepung Bekatul 70%: Tepung Menir 30%) dengan tiga kali ulangan. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis keragaman ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) pada taraf 5% menggunakan Software Co-Stat dan diuji lanjut menggunakan uji lanjut Polinomial Ortogonal jika terdapat beda nyata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proporsi tepung bekatul dan tepung menir memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata terhadap parameter rasa, aroma, tektur dan warna (Hedonic dan Scoring), kadar protein dan kadar abu, namun tidak berbeda nyata terhadap kadar air cookies. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa proporsi tepung bekatul dan tepung menir yang menghasilkan cookies dengan mutu terbaik yang sesuai dengan syarat mutu SNI adalah perlakuan tepung bekatul 30% : tepung menir 70% (kadar air 4,8008%, kadar protein 6,0461% dan kadar abu 1,9274%, dengan rasa, aroma, tektur dan warna sangat disukai panelis dimana cookies berwarnacokelat kekuningan dan tekstur agak renyah). <p>Tape yeast in certain dose is required in making tape. Addition of 5% sugar could increase the sweetness as well as energy for the microorganissm. The experiment about the effect of yeast dosage and sugar addition on the quality of wheat grain tape in the Laboratory of Faculty of Science and Mathematics Satya Wacana Christian University started from 29th February until 23rd April 2012. This research used Randomized Block Design (RBD) with six treatments as follows: 1% yeast; 2% yeast; 3% yeast; 1% yeast with sugar; 2% yeast with sugar; 3% yeast with sugar. Finally, data of the result were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and honestly significant difference (HSD) at 5% level. The research showed that: 1) 1% yeast dose had the highest quality of wheat tape compared to 2% and 3% yeast dose, 2) 1% yeast dose with sugar gave the best taste from organoleptic test.</p>

Brazil has great variability, being one of the centers of origin of the genus Passiflora. Passion fruit has a multiple and diversified uses, being little explored as an ornamental plant in the country. The objective of this work was to characterize four passion fruit genotypes (two hybrid materials from the experimental field of passion fruit breeding program of the University of Brasília, and two passion fruit cultivars - BRS Sertão Forte and BRS Mel do Cerrado, both of them from Brazil), based on official and validated morphoagronomic descriptors for the identification of morphological aspects and ornamental potential, under field conditions, in the Distrito Federal, Brazil. The experiment consisted of a randomized block design, with four treatments, four replications, and six plants per plot. Plants were analyzed weekly regarding the characteristics of the branches, leaf blade, petiole, and flowers, with 24 measurements of each structure in the four treatments, which were recorded using a digital camera. Flowers presented pronounced size and color, colored branches, and leaves of varying sizes and shapes. All materials studied showed commercial ornamental potential to be explored as new options for ornamental climbing plants.

The paper examines the impact of microfinance on poverty alleviation in Ondo State, Nigeria. The paper is based on a survey of 240 beneficiaries of microcredit loans in Ondo State. The results of the analysis show that most beneficiaries of micro credit loans are educated youth between the age brackets of 18 and 40 years. Many of the beneficiaries utilized their loans to procure durable equipment needed in their small scale enterprises. The results show that loan empowerment has a significant positive effect on beneficiaries’ welfare. Access to credit allowed the beneficiaries take advantage of economic opportunities by providing a fundamental basis for planning and expanding business activities.
