This study is aimed at constructing a correlative model between Internet addiction and mobile phone addiction; the aim is to analyse the correlation (if any) between the two traits and to discuss the influence confirming that the gender has difference on this fascinating topic; taking gender into account opens a new world of scientific study to us. The study collected 448 college students on an island as study subjects, with 61.2% males and 38.8% females. Moreover, this study issued Mobile Phone Addiction Scale and Internet Addiction Scale to conduct surveys on the participants and adopts the structural equation model (SEM) to process the collected data. According to the study result, (1) mobile phone addiction and Internet addiction are positively related; (2) female college students score higher than male ones in the aspect of mobile addiction. Lastly, this study proposes relevant suggestions to serve as a reference for schools, college students, and future studies based on the study results.

Background: Mobile phone addiction is a type of technological addiction. With regard to large number of mobile users especially among college students in Yemen, dependence of mobile phone is attracting increasing concern. This study examines validity and reliability of the Yemeni college student version of mobile phone addiction scale in college students. Object: To study the addiction behavior and awareness of mobile phone on Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) among a college student sample. Material and method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among undergraduate college students aged ≥18 years studying at Sana’a University, Sana’a, Yemen, from November 1st 2017 until Feb 2nd, 2018.A pretested self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. The study instrument comprised eight segments, namely, informed consent information, consent acceptance page, demographic details, habituation, mobile phone fact and EMR, mobile phone awareness, psychomotor analysis, Data analyzed using IBM SPSS Version 17. Results: Totally, 204 individuals participated in the study, of which 42.3% were males and 57.7% were females, between the age group of 20 ->31 years. Nearly 75.9% of the respondents were between the age group of 21 and 25 years. The mean age of the study participants was 22.88 (standard error = 0.24) years.. Around 55%of the study participants use mobile phone for an hour (approximately) and remaining use it for more than an hour. Nearly36.7% checking mobile phones in between sleep, while 27.1% felt inconvenience with mobile phone use. Majority using mobile phone for communication purposes (87.8%), photo shooting (59.7%), entertainment (58.2%), and educational purposes (43.8%). The study results indicate that 86.8% of the participants are aware about EMR and 82.6% of the study participants are aware about the dangers of EMR. Conclusion: Mobile phone use with increasing adoption promotes an addiction-like behavior that is evolving a public health problem in a large proportion in Yemen.

This study is aimed at figuring out the effects of major selecting motivation on dropout, academic achievement, and major satisfactions of college students majoring in foodservice and culinary arts. To accomplish this, an empirical survey was conducted through a structural equation model. These findings showed that students are likely to drop out of college due to a career change or major maladjustment if they decide their major in consideration of college reputation or department recognition rather than their aptitude. Unlike existing studies, this study has practical implications concerning the importance of these factors in that their academic achievement is affected by their relationship and perception of their major satisfactions rather than their major selection motivations.

The problematic Internet use (PIU) has become a topic of special relevance since it is a problem that affects the whole world. It has been detected that the population at greatest risk is university students along with adolescents. At the same time, Spain is one of the countries with the highest PIU rate. The purposes of this article were to analyze the presence and degree of Internet addiction among university students and to check the sociodemographic factors that influence the PIU. To this end, 13 hypotheses were put forward and contrasted using a structural equation model. The study adopted a cross-sectional approach by applying the Internet addiction test to a sample of undergraduate students in southern Spain ( n = 1,013). The results indicated a prevalence of PIU among students of almost 12.5% and with a moderate degree of addiction. In turn, the following hypotheses that had a significant effect on the PIU were supported: gender; field of knowledge; living in the parents’ home; Internet daily use for leisure; Internet daily use for academic purposes; number of social networks; sexual orientation; marital status. Finally, the main findings of the study were reviewed, and the main recommendations and implications for mitigating the negative effects of technology and enhancing the positive ones were established.

This study focused on college students’ attitudes toward the relationship between online civic responsibility and online civic engagement and its impacts. It also investigated the mediating roles of online civic learning and online civic expression in this relationship. A survey was conducted in Taiwan, testing for indirect effects with mediated variables using a structural equation model. The study tested hypotheses about the mediations of online civic learning and online civic expression on this relationship between online civic responsibility and online civic engagement for college students. The results indicate that the mediators of online civic learning and online civic expression fully mediate the relationship between online civic responsibility and online civic engagement.

I explored the relationships among shyness, loneliness, and cell phone dependence (CPD) in college students, with a special focus on the mediating effect of loneliness in the relationship between shyness and CPD. Participants were 593 students recruited from a college in Henan, China, and they completed the Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale, the UCLA Loneliness Scale–Short Form, and the Mobile Phone Addiction Index. The results show that shyness was significantly correlated with both loneliness and CPD, and that loneliness partially mediated the effect of shyness on CPD. These findings shed light on how shyness predicts CPD and have implications for preventing CPD in college students.

This research provides measure of absolute and relative equity agency costs for corporations under different ownership and management structures. Miller (1977) argues that divergence of opinion among investors causes the price difference of the price of a security. The dispute mechanism causes the forming price to be further of closer to its intrinsic value. Greater the divergence of opinion, causes greater the gap between the price and its’ intrinsic value. This study tests a new condition that reflects the existence of agency conflict, which is the conditions of stock price premium and stock price discount and related to agency cost control mechanism through foreign and domestic institutional ownership. The two conditions then called as price spread. This study tests four interrelated hypotheses in conditions of stock price premium and stock price discount that related to agency cost, foreign institutional ownership and domestic institutional ownership. Analysis method employs complete structural equation model (SEM), and multigroup SEM with constrained and unconstrained parameters. The direction of the study results consistent with result prediction. Nevertheless, there is one insignificant relationship, which is domestic institutional ownership towards agency cost. This indicates that the relationship hold but remains statistically unproven.
