The network-based robustH∞filtering for the uncertain system with sensor failures and the noise is considered in this paper. The uncertain system under consideration is also subject to parameter uncertainties and delay varying in an interval. Sufficient conditions are derived for a linear filter such that the filtering error systems are robust globally asymptotically stable while the disturbance rejection attenuation is constrained to a given level by means of theH∞performance index. These conditions are characterized in terms of the feasibility of a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and then the explicit expression is then given for the desired filter parameters. Two numerical examples are exploited to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed filter design method.

The robustH∞filtering problem for a class of network-based systems with random sensor delay is investigated. The sensor delay is supposed to be a stochastic variable satisfying Bernoulli binary distribution. Using the Lyapunov function and Wirtinger’s inequality approach, the sufficient conditions are derived to ensure that the filtering error systems are exponentially stable with a prescribedH∞disturbance attenuation level and the filter design method is proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by a numerical example.

This paper investigates the problem of H∞ filtering for class discrete-time Lipschitz nonlinear singular systems with measurement quantization. Assume that the system measurement output is quantized by a static, memoryless, and logarithmic quantizer before it is transmitted to the filter, while the quantizer errors can be treated as sector-bound uncertainties. The attention of this paper is focused on the design of a nonlinear quantized H∞ filter to mitigate quantization effects and ensure that the filtering error system is admissible (asymptotically stable, regular, and causal), while having a unique solution with a prescribed H∞ noise attenuation level. By introducing some slack variables and using the Lyapunov stability theory, some sufficient conditions for the existence of the nonlinear quantized H∞ filter are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed quantized filter design method.

The generalized H2 filtering problem is investigated for linear discrete-time switched systems with multiple time-varying delays. By constructing the piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals, employing Jensen inequality and slack variables, the delay-dependent sufficient conditions are derived for the filter-error system to be stable with a H2 performance. Based on the established results, the filter design method is presented in terms of the linear matrix inequalities (LMI). The design procedure is brief and easy to compute. The optimal filter can be solved with LMI toolbox of MATLAB directly. Finally, the simulation results illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.

In this paper a fault-detection (FD), filter-design method has been proposed for linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems. The FD filter is an optimal H∞ Luenberger observer synthesized by minimizing frequency conditions that ensure guaranteed levels of disturbance rejection and fault detection. Via the bounded real lemma (BRL) and the separation principle the design method is formulated as a convex linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization problem. The resulting residual generator is parameter-dependent and uses the plant parameter assumed measurable online. Finally, an FD threshold logic is proposed in order to reduce the generation of false alarms. The effectiveness of the design technique is illustrated via a numerical example.

This paper describes the synthesis of a robust and non-fragile H∞ observer-based filter design for a class of parameter uncertain system with polytopic uncertainties, disturbances, and gain variations. We present the sufficient condition for filter existence and the method for designing a robust and non-fragile H∞ filter by using LMIs (Linear Matrix Inequalities) technique. Because the obtained sufficient condition can be represented as PLMIs (Parameterized Linear Matrix Inequalities), which can generate infinite LMIs, we use the relaxation technique to find finite solutions for a robust and non-fragile H∞ filter. We show that the proposed filter can minimize the estimation error in terms of parameter uncertainties, filter-fragility, and disturbances.

The nonfragileH∞filtering problem for a kind of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy stochastic system which has a time-varying delay and parameter uncertainties has been studied in this paper. Sufficient conditions for stochastic input-to-state stability (SISS) of the fuzzy stochastic systems are obtained. Attention is focused on the design of a nonfragileH∞filter such that the filtering error system can tolerate some level of the gain variations in the filter and theH∞performance level also could be satisfied. By using the SISS result, the approach to design the nonfragile filter is proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

We deal with the design problem of minimum entropyℋ∞filter in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach for linear continuous-time systems with a state-space model subject to parameter uncertainty that belongs to a given convex bounded polyhedral domain. Given a stable uncertain linear system, our attention is focused on the design of full-order and reduced-order robust minimum entropyℋ∞filters, which guarantee the filtering error system to be asymptotically stable and are required to minimize the filtering error system entropy (ats0=∞) and to satisfy a prescribedℋ∞disturbance attenuation performance. Sufficient conditions for the existence of desired full-order and reduced-order filters are established in terms of LMIs, respectively, and the corresponding filter synthesis is cast into a convex optimization problem which can be efficiently handled by using standard numerical software. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed design method.

In this paper, we describe the synthesis of robust and non-fragile Kalman filter design for a class of uncertain linear system with polytopic uncertainties and filter gain variations. The sufficient condition of filter existence, the design method of robust non-fragile filter, and the measure of non-fragility in filter are presented via LMIs(Linear Matrix Inequality) technique. And the obtained sufficient condition can be represented as PLMIs(Parameterized Linear Matrix Inequalities) that is, coefficients of LMIs are functions of a parameter confined to a compact set. Since PLMIs generate infinite LMIs, we use relaxation technique, find a finite solution for robust non-fragile filter, and show that the resulting filter guarantees the asymptotic stability with parameter uncertainties and filter fragility. Finally, a numerical example is shown to validate the proposed design method.

This paper addresses the design problem of robust H2 output feedback controller design for damping power system oscillations. Sufficient conditions for the existence of output feedback controllers with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, a convex optimization problem with LMI constraints is formulated to design the output feedback controller which minimizes an upper bound on the worst-case H2 norm for a range of admissible plant perturbations. The technique is illustrated with applications to the design of stabilizer for a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) power system. The LMI based control ensures adequate damping for widely varying system operating.
