A prey-predator model with gestation delay, stage structure for predator, and selective harvesting effort on mature predator is proposed, where taxation is considered as a control instrument to protect the population resource in prey-predator biosystem from overexploitation. It shows that interior equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable when the gestation delay is zero, and there is no periodic orbit within the interior of the first quadrant of state space around the interior equilibrium. An optimal harvesting policy can be obtained by virtue of Pontryagin's Maximum Principle without considering gestation delay; on the other hand, the interior equilibrium of model system loses as gestation delay increases through critical certain threshold, a phenomenon of Hopf bifurcation occurs, and a stable limit cycle corresponding to the periodic solution of model system is also observed. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to show consistency with theoretical analysis.

It is established that when the discrete time delay is zero, the model system is stable around the interior equilibrium and an optimal harvesting policy is discussed with the help of Pontryagin's maximum principle; On the other hand, stability switch of the model system due to the variation of discrete time delay is also studied, which reveals that the discrete time delay has a destabilizing effect. As the discrete time delay increases through a certain threshold, a phenomenon of Hopf bifurcation occurs and a limit cycle corresponding to the periodic solution of model system is also observed. Numerical simulations are carried out to show the consistency with theoretical analysis.

In this paper, a three-dimensional dynamical model consisting of a prey, a mature predator, and an immature predator is proposed and analysed. The interaction between prey and mature predator is assumed to be of the Crowley–Martin type, and both the prey and mature predator are harvested according to catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) hypothesis. Steady state of the system is obtained, stability analysis (local and global both) are discussed to explore the long-time behaviour of the system. The optimal harvesting policy is also discussed with the help of Pontryagin's maximum principle. The harvesting effort is taken as an effective control instrument to preserve prey and predator and to maintain them at an optimal level.

International audience We present the method of aggregation of variables in the case of ordinary differential equations. We apply the method to a prey - predator model in a multi - patchy environment. In this model, preys can go to a refuge and therefore escape to predation. The predator must return regularly to his terrier to feed his progeny. We study the effect of density-dependent migration on the global stability of the prey-predator system. We consider constant migration rates, but also density-dependent migration rates. We prove that the positif equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable in the first case, and that its stability changes in the second case. The fact that we consider density-dependent migration rates leads to the existence of a stable limit cycle via a Hopf bifurcation. Nous présentons les grandes lignes de laméthode d'agrégation des variables dans les systèmes d'équations différentielles ordinaires. Nous appliquons laméthode à un modèle proie-prédateur spatialisé. Dans ce modèle, les proies peuvent échapper à la prédation en se réfugiant sur un site. Le prédateur doit aussi retourner régulièrement dans son terrier pour nourrir sa progéniture. Nous étudions les effets de migration dépendant de la densité des populations sur la stabilité globale du système proie-prédateur. Nous considérons des taux de migration constants, puis densité-dépendants. Dans le cas de taux constants il existe un équilibre positif toujours stable alors que dans le cas de taux de migration densité-dépendants, il existe un cycle limite stable via une bifurcation de Hopf.

The main objective of the present paper is to consider the dynamical analysis of a three dimensional prey-predator model within deterministic environment and the influence of environmental driving forces on the dynamics of the model system. For the deterministic model we have obtained the local asymptotic stability criteria of various equilibrium points and derived the condition for the existence of small amplitude periodic solution bifurcating from interior equilibrium point through Hopf bifurcation. We have obtained the parametric domain within which the model system exhibit chaotic oscillation and determined the route to chaos. Finally, we have shown that chaotic oscillation disappears in presence of environmental driving forces which actually affect the deterministic growth rates. These driving forces are unable to drive the system from a regime of deterministic chaos towards a stochastically stable situation. The stochastic stability results are discussed in terms of the stability of first and second order moments. Exhaustive numerical simulations are carried out to validate the analytical findings.

This work deals with a prey–predator model in an environment where the carrying capacities are assumed to be variable with time and one species feeds upon the other. Independent harvesting efforts are applied in either species and asymmetrical intraguild predation occurs. A common resource is consumed by two competing species and at the same time predator also consumes the prey. At first we discuss the model under constant carrying capacity and make the conclusion that no limit cycle exists in this case. Then we discuss the model without intraspecific competition. Our main concern is to cover the above mentioned two cases together, i.e. the model with variable carrying capacity and intraspecific competition. We determine the steady states and examine the dynamical behavior. We also analyze the local and global stability of the interior equilibrium by Routh–Hurwitz criterion and a suitable Lyapunov function respectively. A Hopf bifurcation occurs with respect to a parameter which is the ratio of predator’s and prey’s intrinsic growth rate. The possibility of bionomic equilibrium has been considered. The optimal harvest policy is formulated and solved with Pontryagin’s maximum principle. Some numerical simulations are given to explain most of the analytical results.

A harvested prey-predator model with density-dependent maturation delay and stage structure for prey is proposed, where selective harvest effort on predator population is considered. Conditions which influence positiveness and boundedness of solutions of model system are analytically investigated. Criteria for existence of all equilibria and uniqueness of positive equilibrium are also studied. In order to discuss effects of maturation delay and harvesting on model dynamics, local stability analysis around all equilibria of the proposed model system is discussed due to variation of maturation delay and harvest effort level. Furthermore, global stability of positive equilibrium is investigated by utilizing an iterative technique. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to show consistency with theoretical analysis.

In this paper we have considered a prey-predator model with Holling type of predation and independent harvesting in either species. The purpose of the work is to offer mathematical analysis of the model and to discuss some significant qualitative results that are expected to arise from the interplay of biological forces. Our study shows that, using the harvesting efforts as controls, it is possible to break the cyclic behaviour of the system and drive it to a required state. Also it is possible to introduce globally stable limit cycle in the system using the above controls.

We propose a prey predator model with stage structure for prey. A discrete delay and a distributed delay for predator described by an integral with a strong delay kernel are also considered. Existence of two feasible boundary equilibria and a unique interior equilibrium are analytically investigated. By analyzing associated characteristic equation, local stability analysis of boundary equilibrium and interior equilibrium is discussed, respectively. It reveals that interior equilibrium is locally stable when discrete delay is less than a critical value. According to Hopf bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations, it can be found that model undergoes Hopf bifurcation around the interior equilibrium when local stability switch occurs and corresponding stable limit cycle is observed. Furthermore, directions of Hopf bifurcation and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are studied based on normal form theory and center manifold theorem. Numerical simulations are carried out to show consistency with theoretical analysis.
