We analyze the properties of electroweak chiral effective Lagrangian with an extendedSU(2)Rgauge group. Right-handedSU(2)Rgauge bosons affect electroweak observables by mixing with electroweak gauge bosonsWL,μandBμ. We discuss all possible mass mixing terms and calculate the exact physical mass eigenvalues by diagonalization of mixing matrix without any approximate assumptions. The contributions to oblique radiative corrections parameters STU fromSU(2)Rfields are also presented.

Abstract We propose a vector dark matter model with an exotic dark SU(2) gauge group. Two Higgs triplets are introduced to spontaneously break the symmetry. All of the dark gauge bosons become massive, and the lightest one is a viable vector DM candidate. Its stability is guaranteed by a remaining Z2 symmetry. We study the parameter space constrained by the Higgs measurement data, the dark matter relic density, and direct and indirect detection experiments. We find numerous parameter points satisfying all the constraints, and they could be further tested in future experiments. Similar methodology can be used to construct vector dark matter models from an arbitrary SO(N) gauge group.

Abstract Axions and axion-like particles (ALPs) are well-motivated low-energy relics of high-energy extensions of the Standard Model, which interact with the known particles through higher-dimensional operators suppressed by the mass scale Λ of the new-physics sector. Starting from the most general dimension-5 interactions, we discuss in detail the evolution of the ALP couplings from the new-physics scale to energies at and below the scale of electroweak symmetry breaking. We derive the relevant anomalous dimensions at two-loop order in gauge couplings and one-loop order in Yukawa interactions, carefully considering the treatment of a redundant operator involving an ALP coupling to the Higgs current. We account for one-loop (and partially two-loop) matching contributions at the weak scale, including in particular flavor-changing effects. The relations between different equivalent forms of the effective Lagrangian are discussed in detail. We also construct the effective chiral Lagrangian for an ALP interacting with photons and light pseudoscalar mesons, pointing out important differences with the corresponding Lagrangian for the QCD axion.

We investigate the gauge dynamics of nonsupersymmetric SU (N) gauge theories featuring the simultaneous presence of fermionic matter transforming according to two distinct representations of the underlying gauge group. We bound the regions of flavors and colors which can yield a physical infrared fixed point. As a consistency check we recover the previously investigated bounds of the conformal windows when restricting to a single matter representation. The earlier conformal windows can be imagined to be part now of the new conformal house. We predict the nonperturbative anomalous dimensions at the infrared fixed points. We further investigate the effects of adding mass terms to the condensates on the conformal house chiral dynamics and construct the simplest instanton induced effective Lagrangian terms.

The radiative corrections of second and third order for the process of photoproduction of gravitons in Coulomb and magnetic dipole fields have been calculated. All divergences have been removed either by charge renormalization or regularization. No approximations have been made in the calculation of the second order cross section. In the third order calculation only the extreme relativistic approximation is given. The forms of the effective Lagrangian, corresponding to the low energy approximations have been determined.

Interactions of the technidilaton with fermions and gauge bosons are obtained by constructing a low energy effective Lagrangian and using the fact that the technidilaton couples to the trace of the energy-momentum tensor Θµµ. Technidilaton’s interactions are compared with those of the Higgs bosons of the Standard Model with one or two scalar doublets.

The systematic effective Lagrangian method was first formulated in the context of the strong interaction; chiral perturbation theory (CHPT) is the effective theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). It was then pointed out that the method can be transferred to the nonrelativistic domain—in particular, to describe the low-energy properties of ferromagnets. Interestingly, whereas for Lorentz-invariant systems the effective Lagrangian method fails in one spatial dimension (ds=1), it perfectly works for nonrelativistic systems in ds=1. In the present brief review, we give an outline of the method and then focus on the partition function for ferromagnetic spin chains, ferromagnetic films, and ferromagnetic crystals up to three loops in the perturbative expansion—an accuracy never achieved by conventional condensed matter methods. We then compare ferromagnets in ds=1, 2, 3 with the behavior of QCD at low temperatures by considering the pressure and the order parameter. The two apparently very different systems (ferromagnets and QCD) are related from a universal point of view based on the spontaneously broken symmetry. In either case, the low-energy dynamics is described by an effective theory containing Goldstone bosons as basic degrees of freedom.

We present a factorization theorem for the low transverse momentum (pT) and rapidity (Y) distribution of the Higgs and electroweak gauge bosons using the Soft-Collinear Effective Theory. In the region M ≫ pT ≫ ΛQCD, where M denotes the mass of the electroweak object, the factorization formula is given in terms of perturbatively calculable functions and the standard PDFs. For pT ~ ΛQCD, the factorization theorem is given in terms of non-perturbative Impact-parameter Beam Functions (iBFs) and an Inverse Soft Function (iSF). The iBFs correspond to completely unintegrated PDFs and can be interesting probes of momentum distributions in the nucleon. The iBFs and the iSF are grouped together and written as a product of a gauge invariant and non-perturbative Transverse Momentum Function (TMF) with the standard PDFs. We present results of NLL resummation for the Higgs and Z-boson distributions and give a comparison with Tevatron data.

As a simple extension, a non-Abelian family gauge symmetry SO(3), as well as three family Majorana neutrinos, was introduced to explain the tri-bimaximal mixing matrix of neutrinos. We discuss the effect of the possible SO(3) family gauge interaction to the mass differences of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], and get the constrains to the new gauge bosons.

We study general properties of the low-energy effective theory for 4D type II superstrings obtained by the compactification on an abstract (2,2) superconformal system. This is the basic step towards the construction of their moduli space. We give an explicit and general algorithm to convert the effective Lagrangian for the type IIA into that of type IIB superstring defined by the same (2,2) superconformal system (and vice versa). This map converts Kahler manifolds into quaternionic ones (and quaternionic into Kahlerian ones) and has a deep geometrical meaning. The relationship with the theory of normal quaternionic manifolds (and algebras), as well as with Jordan algebras, is outlined. It turns out that only a restricted class of quarternionic geometries is allowed in the string case. We derive a general and explicit formula for the (fully nonlinear) couplings of the vector-multiplets (IIA case) in terms of the basic three-point functions of the underlying superconformal theory. A number of illustrative examples is also presented.
