A predator prey system with Holling III functional response and constant prey refuge is considered. By using the Dulac criterion, we discuss the global stability of the positive equilibrium of the system. By transforming the system to a Liénard system, the conditions for the existence of exactly one limit cycle for the system are given. Some numerical simulations are presented.

A nonautonomous discrete predator-prey system incorporating a prey refuge and Holling type II functional response is studied in this paper. A set of sufficient conditions which guarantee the persistence and global stability of the system are obtained, respectively. Our results show that if refuge is large enough then predator species will be driven to extinction due to the lack of enough food. Two examples together with their numerical simulations show the feasibility of the main results.

The authors introduce stochasticity into a predator-prey system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and stage structure for predator. We present the global existence and positivity of the solution and give sufficient conditions for the global stability in probability of the system. Numerical simulations are introduced to support the main theoretical results.

Abstract In this paper, we consider the dynamics of a predator-prey system of Gause type with cooperative hunting among predators and Holling III functional response. The known work numerically shows that the system exhibits saddle-node and Hopf bifurcations except homoclinic bifurcation for some special parameter values. Our results show that there are a weak focus of multiplicity three and a cusp of codimension two for general parameter conditions and the system can exhibit various bifurcations as perturbing the bifurcation parameters appropriately, such as the transcritical and the pitchfork bifurcations at the degenerate boundary equilibrium, the saddle-node and the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations at the degenerate positive equilibrium and the Hopf bifurcation around the weak focus. The comparative study demonstrates that the dynamics are far richer and more complex than that of the system without cooperative hunting among predators. The analysis results reveal that appropriate intensity of cooperative hunting among predators is beneficial for the persistence of predators and the diversity of ecosystem.

AbstractA delayed predator-prey system with Holling type III functional response is investigated. It is proved that the system is uniformly persistent under some appropriate conditions. By means of suitable Lyapunov functionals, sufficient conditions are derived for the local and global asymptotic stability of a positive equilibrium of the system. Numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the feasibility of our main results.

We propose and study the permanence of the following periodic Holling III predator-prey system with stage structure for prey and both two predators which consume immature prey. Sufficient and necessary conditions which guarantee the predator and the prey species to be permanent are obtained.

It was shown in [Li & Xiao, 2007] that in a predator–prey model of Leslie type with simplified Holling type IV functional response some complex bifurcations can occur simultaneously for some values of parameters, such as codimension 1 subcritical Hopf bifurcation and codimension 2 Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. In this paper, we show that for the same model there exists a unique degenerate positive equilibrium which is a degenerate Bogdanov–Takens singularity (focus case) of codimension 3 for other values of parameters. We prove that the model exhibits degenerate focus type Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 3 around the unique degenerate positive equilibrium. Numerical simulations, including the coexistence of three hyperbolic positive equilibria, two limit cycles, bistability states (one stable equilibrium and one stable limit cycle, or two stable equilibria), tristability states (two stable equilibria and one stable limit cycle), a stable limit cycle enclosing a homoclinic loop, a homoclinic loop enclosing an unstable limit cycle, or a stable limit cycle enclosing three unstable hyperbolic positive equilibria for various parameter values, confirm the theoretical results.
