This paper presents a prioritization scheme based on an analysis of the impact on objective video quality when dropping individual slices from coded video streams. It is shown that giving higher-priority classified packets preference in accessing the wireless media results in considerable quality gain (up to 3 dB in tests) over the case when no prioritization is applied. The proposed scheme is demonstrated for an IEEE 802.11e quality-of-service- (QoS-) enabled wireless LAN. Though more complex prioritization systems are possible, the proposed scheme is crafted for mobile interactive or user-to-user video services and is simply implemented within the Main or the Baseline profiles of an H.264 codec.

With traffic increase in a wireless network beyond its capacity and as the number of connected devices continue to grow, the quality of service (QoS) degrades. In this paper we study the impact of mobility on throughput in the case of an infrastructure wireless network using IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi standard. Since we found in the literature that the mobility of stations can have an impact on the quality of service, we try to remedy to this by implementing a new access category reserved for mobile stations. First we compare the throughput between static and mobile nodes, both connected to a QoS station. Then we propose our new model that consists of adding a new access category used by mobile nodes regardless of their traffic category. The study was made by simulating different scenarios using Network Simulator-3 (NS-3). We found that the throughput may vary depending on the simulation scenario. The simulation results show that with the proposed solution the mobile nodes can have a better throughput.

The principles of ensuring a given level of quality of QoS service in wireless networks are considered, which allow achieving the stable functioning of real-time software applications by fine-tuning the prioritization of the traffic generated by them. The main focus is on the competition-based access control mechanism and controlled access, as well as their extensions. The issues of encapsulation of basic control mechanisms in solutions of higher levels of EDCA and TXOP are touched upon. The calculated values of the corresponding parameters are given.

This paper deals with the delay, delay variation - jitter, packet loss rate and bandwidth as quality of service parameters, in the form of four types of video quality degradations. The impact of defined levels of degradation on subjective impressions (given as mean opinion scores) is analyzed. ReTRiEVED video dataset with publicly available subjective scores is used in the analysis. Three full-reference measures are used for objective assessment of video quality. The degree of consistency of subjective and objective quality scores is shown through scatter plots and quantitative measures (linear correlation coefficient and correlation of the ranks). Based on the interpolation functions, quality of service parameters are mapped to subjective experience. We show that jitter is a much more destructive effect than other degradation types.

Sriwijaya State Polytechnic is an educational institution that provides wireless hotspots in every lecture building. With the increasing need for internet, especially on Youtube streaming, it is necessary to have an analysis in each lecture building to find out QoS (Quality of Service) and RMA (Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability) on the Wireless LAN network at Sriwijaya State Polytechnic. This study uses the Action Research method. For QoS measurement using wireshark software and Axence netTools by logging in through the hotspot for each department at the Sriwijaya State Polytechnic, to find out the performance of a network using PRTG (Paessler Router Traffic Grapher) software using the ping IP Address sensor will display the availability monitoring results. The results of the largest measurement of maximum bandwidth are 21,639,256 bit / s in the Business Administration Department, for the highest delay and jitter values are 36 ms and 0.050 ms in the KPA building (Administrative Head Office). The result of the largest packet loss is 0.093% in the Department of Electrical Engineering, for the largest throughput is 0.918 Mbit / s at 1080HD video quality in the Accounting Department. Monitoring RMA aims to determine the performance of an internet network with an Availability result of 99%, this is categorized in good condition. It can be concluded that the QoS measurement results based on the TIPHON version are categorized as very good and the RMA monitoring results have good network performance results as well.Keyword: Streaming Youtube, Parameter QoS, wireshark, RMA ABSTRAKPoliteknik Negeri Sriwijaya merupakan salah satu instansi pendidikan yang menyediakan wireless hotspot di setiap gedung kuliah. The delivery of three-dimensional immersive media to individual users remains a highly challenging problem due to the large amount of data involved, diverse network characteristics, and user terminal requirements, as well as user’s context. This paper proposes a framework for quality of experience-aware delivering of three-dimensional video across heterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed architecture combines a Media-Aware Proxy (application layer filter), an enhanced version of IEEE 802.21 protocol for monitoring key performance parameters from different entities and multiple layers, and a QoE controller with a machine learning-based decision engine, capable of modelling the perceived video quality. The proposed architecture is fully integrated with the Long Term Evolution Enhanced Packet Core networks. The paper investigates machine learning-based techniques for producing an objective QoE model based on parameters from the physical, the data link, and the network layers. Extensive test-bed experiments and statistical analysis indicate that the proposed framework is capable of modelling accurately the impact of network impairments to the perceptual quality of three-dimensional video user.
