The existence and multiplicity of solutions for second-order differential equations with a parameter are discussed in this paper. We are mainly concerned with the semipositone case. The analysis relies on the nonlinear alternative principle of Leray-Schauder and Krasnosel'skii's fixed point theorem in cones.

In this paper, we study the existence of positive periodic solutions to the equation x″ = f (t, x). It is proved that such a equation has more than one positive periodic solution when the nonlinearity changes sign. The proof relies on a fixed point theorem in cones.

We establish the existence of positive solutions for systems of second–order differential equations with discontinuous nonlinear terms. To this aim, we give a multivalued vector version of Krasnosel’skiĭ’s fixed point theorem in cones which we apply to a regularization of the discontinuous integral operator associated to the differential system. We include several examples to illustrate our theory.

We study some second order ordinary differential equations. We establish the existence and uniqueness in some appropriate function space. By using Schauder’s fixed-point theorem, new results on the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions are obtained.

AbstractUsing a recent modified version of the Poincaré-Birkhoff fixed point theorem [19], we study the existence of one-signed T-periodic solutions and sign-changing subharmonic solutions to the second order scalar ODEu′′ + f (t, u) = 0,being f : ℝ × ℝ → ℝ a continuous function T-periodic in the first variable and such that f (t, 0) ≡ 0. Partial extensions of the results to a general planar Hamiltonian systems are given, as well.

We study the existence of positive solutions for second-order nonlinear differential equations with nonseparated boundary conditions. Our nonlinearity may be singular in its dependent variable. The proof of the main result relies on a nonlinear alternative principle of Leray-Schauder. Recent results in the literature are generalized and significantly improved.

In this paper, we study the multi-point boundary value problems for a new kind of piecewise differential equations with left and right fractional derivatives and delay. In this system, the state variables satisfy the different equations in different time intervals, and they interact with each other through positive and negative delay. Some new results on the existence, no-existence and multiplicity for the positive solutions of the boundary value problems are obtained by using Guo–Krasnoselskii’s fixed point theorem and Leggett–Williams fixed point theorem. The results for existence highlight the influence of perturbation parameters. Finally, an example is given out to illustrate our main results.

We study the existence of periodic solutions for third-order nonlinear differential equations. The method of proof relies on Schauder’s fixed point theorem applied in a novel way, where the original equation is transformed into second-order integrodifferential equation through a linear integral operator. Finally, examples are presented to illustrate applications of the main results.

This paper is concerned with the fractional separated boundary value problem of fractional differential equations with fractional impulsive conditions. By means of the Schaefer fixed point theorem, Banach fixed point theorem, and nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder type, some existence results are obtained. Examples are given to illustrate the results.
