The problems associated with automatic analysis of news telecasts are more severe in a country like India, where there are many national and regional language channels, besides English. In this paper, we present a framework for multimodal analysis of multilingual news telecasts, which can be augmented with tools and techniques for specific news analytics tasks. Further, we focus on a set of techniques for automatic indexing of the news stories based on keywords spotted in speech as well as on the visuals of contemporary and domain interest. English keywords are derived from RSS feed and converted to Indian language equivalents for detection in speech and on ticker texts. Restricting the keyword list to a manageable number results in drastic improvement in indexing performance. We present illustrative examples and detailed experimental results to substantiate our claim.

This paper presents news video retrieval using text query for Gujarati language news videos. Due to the fact that Broadcasted Video in India is lacking in metadata information such as closed captioning, transcriptions etc., retrieval of videos based on text data is trivial task for most of the Indian language video. To retrieve specific story based on text query in regional language is the key idea behind our approach. Broadcast video is segmented to get shots representing small news stories. To represent each shot efficiently, key frame extraction using singular value decomposition and rank of matrix is proposed. Text is extracted from keyframes for further indexing data. Next task is to process text using natural language processing steps like tokenization, punctuation and extra symbols removal as well as stemming of words to root words etc. Due to unavailability of stemming and other methods of preprocessing of text in Guajarati language, we have given basic stemming technique to reduce dictionary size for efficient indexing of text data. With proposed system 82.5 percent accuracy is achieved on Gujarati news video dataset ETV.

The neural circuits underlying the distinct endpoints that define general anesthesia remain incompletely understood. It is becoming increasingly evident, however, that distinct pathways in the brain that mediate arousal and pain are involved in various endpoints of general anesthesia. To critically evaluate this growing body of literature, familiarity with modern tools and techniques used to study neural circuits is essential. This Readers’ Toolbox article describes four such techniques: (1) electrical stimulation, (2) local pharmacology, (3) optogenetics, and (4) chemogenetics. Each technique is explained, including the advantages, disadvantages, and other issues that must be considered when interpreting experimental results. Examples are provided of studies that probe mechanisms of anesthesia using each technique. This information will aid researchers and clinicians alike in interpreting the literature and in evaluating the utility of these techniques in their own research programs.

The article discussed video news reporting of cultural events on the video portal "Orengrad Oren TV. online". The article analyzed relevant materials that were produced using modern media technologies and public response. The study of the videos revealed the succession between the OREN TV channel and the portal " Orengrad Oren TV. online", which it was transformed into in 2020. Considering various aspects of cultural issues, new media journalists employ the potential of a specific video genre that combines both the features of a television news product and print resources, which distinguishes modern convergent media. The author employed content analysis of news stories to determine what influenced the audience, representatives of the public, and the cultural figures, who adjusted their goals and objectives in accordance with large-scale projects, grant competitions, and creative festivals. The study found that journalists used themed programs to report on the successes and achievements in the area of regional Orenburg culture, whereas the stories that required immediate intervention were covered in brief news video reports.
