A novel transition metal polyoxotungstate, [Cu(H2O)6][{Cu(H2O)2}2{Cu(H2O)4H4W12O42}] · 12H2O (1), has been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR and UV/vis spectroscopy, and TG analysis. The paradodecatungstate anions [H2W12O42]10− are linked by CuO6 octahedra, forming a three-dimensional (3D) structure. The magnetic susceptibility of compound 1 in the temperature range 2 - 300 K shows the presence of antiferromagnetic interactions within the uniform Cu2・ ・ ・Cu3 chains

The reaction of PcMCl 2 ( M = Zr , Hf ) with β-diketones is reported. 1 H NMR and elemental analysis suggest the substitution of two Cl atoms for two β-diketone fragments takes place as a result of this reaction and the complexes PcM(β-dik)2 are formed. All obtained complexes are stable and highly soluble in most organic solvents. The data from 1 H and 19 F NMR, and UV-vis spectroscopy suggest the coordination of two β-diketone ligands in a cis geometry about the central atom of the macrocycle. It was shown bis(β-diketonato)zirconium(IV) and hafnium(IV) phthalocyanines containing β-diketones with donor or acceptor groups or with bulky substituents can be obtained.

AbstractMagnesium acesulfamate, Mg(C4H4NO4S)2·6H2O, was prepared by the reaction of acesulfamic acid and magnesium carbonate in aqueous solution, and characterized by elemental analysis. Its crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The substance crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1̅ with one molecule per unit cell. The FTIR spectrum of the compound was also recorded and is briefly discussed. Some comparisons with other simple acesulfamate and saccharinate salts are also made.

The two copolymer systems of styrene bearing diethanol amine side group and styrene were prepared by free radical polymerization method at 60°C in presence of 1,4-dioxane as solvent and AIBN as initiator. Their metal complexes were prepared by reaction of the copolymer used as ligand P(DEAMSt-co-St)L′′ and Ni(II) and Co(II) metal ions, which was carried out in presence of ethanol and NaOH at 65°C for 48 h in pH = 7.5. The structures of the copolymers used as ligand and metal complexes were identified by FT-IR, 1H-NMR spectra, and elemental analysis. The properties of the copolymers used as ligand and metal complexes were characterized by SEM-EDX, AAS, DSC, TGA, and DTA techniques. Then, the electrical properties of the copolymers and metal complexes were examined as a function of the temperature and frequency, and the activation energies (Ea) were estimated with conductivity measurements.

A new complexes of the type ML2 and M′L [where M=Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) and M′= Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II)]. L = 3-[(2-hydroxy-quinolin-3-ylmethylene)-amino]-2-phenyl-3H-quinazolin-4-one, (HQMAPQ) Schiff base have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, IR,1H NMR, UV-Visible and ESR data. The studies indicate the HQMAPQ acts as doubly monodentate bridge for metal(II) ions and form mononuclear complexes. The complexes Ni(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes are found to be octahedral, where as Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes are four coordinated with tetrahedral geometry. The synthesized ligand and its metal(II) complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity.

The ligand, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-stearoylpyrazol-5-one (HSPy), and its La(III) and W(VI) complexes were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically using elemental analysis, UV-visible, IR, 1H and 13C NMR. Physical properties such as colour, melting points, conductivity measurements and solubility profile were also investigated. La(III) and W(VI) reacted with the ligand in the metal-ligand mole ratios of 1:3 and 1:2 to form neutral complexes of diaquo-trischelate La(SPy)3.2H2O and dioxoaquo-bischelate, WO2(SPy)2.H2O respectively.

The reaction of CpTi(CO)2 (1), Cp2TiCl (2), and Cp2TiCl2 (3) (Cp = η5-C5H5) with purine (PuH) and adenine (AdH) in organic solvents is described. The compound 1 reacts with both molecules in an oxidative fashion giving Cp2Ti(C5H3N4)(C5H4N4) (4) and (Cp2Ti)2(C5H3N5) (5) with concomitant liberation of molecular carbon monoxide and hydrogen (4:1) following a first order rate law in metal complex. The compound 2 forms an adduct compound Cp2TiCl(C5H4N4) (6) with PuH. Monosubstituted derivatives Cp2TiCl(C5H3N4) (7) and Cp2TiCl(C5H4N5) (8) are formed from the reaction of the deprotonated bases with 3. In addition to the usual elemental analysis, the characteristic ir, 1H nmr, epr, and ms results are given for the new compounds.

Anew series of dichloro/dinitrato (2,6,9,13,18-pentaazacbicyclo [12.3.1]octadeca -1(18),14,16-triene) metal(II) [MLX2](M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II); X = Cl or NO3) and (2,6,9,13,18-pentaazacyclo[12.3.1]octadeca-1(18),14,16-triene) copper(II) dichloride/dinitrate [CuL]X2 (X = Cl or NO3) have been synthesized by the template condensation reaction of 2,6-diaminopyridine with 1,2-diaminoethane and 1,3-dibromopropane. The complexes were studied by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. Various spectroscopic techniques, viz. IR, 1H-NMR, EPR, UV/Vis, were used to establish their structures. Except for the complexes of copper(II), which are square planar, all other complexes have octahedral structures.

The azo-chalcone dye of theophylline namely (E)-1-(4-((E)-(theophyllin-8-yl) diazenyl)phenyl-3-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (TDPP) has been prepared and characterized by H-NMR, infrared, and electronic spectra, elemental analysis. Three solid complexes Mn(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) of TDPP dye have been prepared and characterized by IR, electronic spectra, magnetic and conductivity measurements. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the TDPP ligand and metal (II) complexes of Ni, and Cu are notable, with the copper(II) complex being more potent than the others. The TDPP ligand has interesting spectral properties as a pH sensor, solvent polarity sensor, and switches.
