TiO2-WO3photocatalysts were prepared in a vacuum evaporator by impregnation ofTiO2withWO2dissolved in anH2O2solution (30%) and followed by calcination at 400 and600∘C. XRD analyses showed that at400∘Cmonoclinic phase ofWO3was dominated whereas at600∘Cboth monoclinic and regular phases ofWO3were present. Modification ofTiO2byWO3caused increasing in the absorption of light to the visible range.TiO2and photocatalysts modified with low amount ofWO3(1–5 wt.%) showed high adsorption of Acid Red (AR) on their surface and enhanced photocatalytic activity under UV irradiation. Under visible light irradiation,TiO2-WO3photocatalysts prepared at400∘Cwere more active for AR decomposition than those prepared at600∘Csuggesting that monoclinic phase ofWO3is more active under visible light than regularWO3. AlthoughTiO2-WO3photocatalysts appeared to be active under visible light for decomposition of AR, the UV irradiation was more efficient.

The NiO/BiVO4 composite photocatalysts were synthesized by hydrothermal method and were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrum(UV-vis DRS), Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS), BET techniques. The photocatalytic activities were determined by oxidative decomposition of methyl orange in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. The results showed that the light absorption of the NiO/BiVO4 became higher in the visible range compared to pure BiVO4, meantime, accompanied by a bathochromic shift of the absorption edge. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by the photodegradation of Methyl Orange under visible light irradiation. The results showed that NiO loaded evidently improved the photocatalytic activity of BiVO4, and loaded amount had a different impact on the catalytic activity of BiVO4, The 20%NiO/BiVO4 which exhibited the favorable photocatalytic activity in the photodegradation of Methyl Orange.

A novel Zr2ON2 catalyst was successfully prepared by nitriding ZrO2, which has a potential enough for H2 formation by the reduction of water under UV irradiation. It was found that the Zr2ON2 had a stable photocatalytic activity for water oxidation and reduction in the presence of sacrificial reagents (methanol or Ag+) under visible light irradiation (λ < 500 nm).

CdS/Ag2S/g-C3N4 ternary composites showed excellent photocatalytic performance toward H2 evolution. Their improved photocatalytic activity could be attributed not only to the synergic effect, but also to the introduction of Ag2S.
