Biomimetic design is considered a promising source of novel solutions to problems in space engineering and robotics in particular. With the maturing of this discipline, however, a need is identified: a more systematic approach to its application to reduce the element of chance in the design of biomimetic systems. A methodology is proposed to address this concern and provide a basis for further development of biomimetic design procedures. The application of this process is illustrated through case studies of ongoing biomimetics research with relevance to space robotics in the form of climbing robots utilising synthetic dry adhesives.

The paper suggests a methodical approach to assessing the life insurance companies’ competitiveness, which is based on a combination of ranking and radar methods. The algorithm for such an assessment is developed, which covers seven progressive stages. The respective calculations revealed the most competitive life insurance companies currently existing in Ukraine. The performed analysis proved the existence of system-forming life insurance companies in Ukraine, as well as groups of institutions that, under certain conditions, can compete significantly or even take a leading position in the market. It is proved that the establishment of competitive positions of such institutions in the relevant market is not only economic but also social in nature, because it allows potential policyholders quickly determining the integrated state of development of a particular insurer. It is substantiated that such calculations are necessary for insurers, as well as for the relevant state authorities, concerning the determination of further development prospects for the cash-value life insurance. Such an analysis is also justified under the changing regulation model of the life insurance companies, as one of the key tasks of the NBU is to strengthen the requirements for their activities, as a result, only the most developed institutions will remain on the market. It is proved that maintaining its place in the market by existing insurers-leaders and, at the same time, gaining new additional prospects for strengthening their market positions by other life insurance companies, requires using a flexible development strategy, which will be based on customer orientation. The ways for improvement of traditional development strategies of life insurance companies are outlined, which allows strengthening their competitive positions in the market under the emerging crisis phenomena in the economic and financial fields.

As the practice of referendum has considerable potential for legitimizing power, it is an integral part of the functioning of many political systems. This article applies a systematic approach in order to analyze this practice comprehensively and to examine the referendum processes in their integrity and interconnection. The formation of a new political system is considered as a synthesis of two components: the internal self-awareness of the identity of the political system itself and its separation from the external environment, the recognition of the system as the environment. The author of the article (using D. Eastonʼs reasoning) interprets it as the whole divided into two parts: internal – in society, and external – between the political system and other political systems (societies): the intra-society and extra-society external environment of the political system. These components (self-awareness and outward recognition) are shown to be crucial in the process of the development of the political system in the independent Ukraine. This is confirmed by the December 1, 1991 Referendum. The author analyzes the role of the aforementioned referendum in the formation of Ukraineʼs political system in the context of a systematic approach. He argues that the referendum was initiated due to a number of intra-society and extra-society requirements. Holding a referendum in support of independence became a comprehensive systemic response to systemic challenges and allowed to solve a whole set of problems of existence and further development of a political system of the independent Ukraine. Keywords: referendum on independence, political system of Ukraine, systemic approach, collapse of the USSR.

The formation, functioning and development of organisations in the conditions of modern realities focuses on the search for the most constructive and effective directions of their development, contributing to the strengthening of competitive advantages. In this direction, as a rule, measures are implemented aimed at adapting to the external and internal conditions of further development. Often, the activities implemented at the micro environment level are focused on cost optimisation, and at the macro environment level, the main attention is paid to strengthening the stability of inter-corporate relations. One of the modern approaches in this direction, which is quite common in economic practice, is the integration process aimed at obtaining a synergetic effect as an additional resource that contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of corporate structures in market conditions. In turn, integration processes determine the need to develop a systematic approach to management not only in the format of a specific corporate structure, but in general, in the format of an economic system consisting of several economic entities interconnected with each other. The purpose of this study is to systematise the management processes of corporate structures that are interconnected by the conditions of mutually beneficial cooperation.

In modern conditions in the Russian Federation the equipment of spacecraft with a highly reliable electronic components is possible only through testing technical centers which act as a link between manufacturers of electronic components and their consumers. Given the lack of specialized production of electronic components of the «Space» category in our country, this is the only alternative way. Testing technical centers carry out the formation of batches of electronics for space applications by conducting additional tests of electronic components for general industrial use allowing the rejection of elements containing defects that can manifest themselves during long-term operation in outer space. A modern spacecraft contains about 100–200 thousand electronic components. Taking into account the fact that the on-board equipment of the spacecraft during its operation cannot be repaired, it is obvious that extremely high reliability requirements are imposed on the electronic components of space applications. In this regard the improvement of the methodology for increasing the reliability of the electronic components of space applications is of paramount importance for the further development of the space industry. This article outlines an approach to improving the technology of additional tests in testing technical centers, based on the use of the concepts of homogeneity of the tested batch of electronic components which makes it possible to meaningfully generate samples for destructive physical analysis and radiation resistance tests, as well as to additionally identify emission elements that are potentially unreliable elements.

One of the main objects of forensic research in the forensic veterinary industry is the corpses of animals, including cats. They are killed with the help of various tools or objects, dropped from a height, poisoned deliberately, as a result, the animals die. At the same time, the question of finding out the limitation period of death arises very often. In the branch of forensic veterinary medicine there are only a few scattered works, which present the results of studies of the criteria for establishing the limitation period of death. For research, various methodological approaches are used to study the dynamics and establish a correlation between the degree of development of post-mortem changes and the prescription of death. Today, a large number of methods and methods for determining the prescription of death of animals are known. The following methods are most often used: visual palpation, thermometric, experimental theoretical, morphological and morphometric, biophysical, biochemical. Thus, the determination of the prescription of limitation period of death is relevant, since the deaths of these animals are increasingly becoming the basis for the institution of criminal cases, in addition, the existing methods for establishing the prescription of the death of animals, including cats require further development of actual, statistical data for determining the prescription the limitation period of death, since the material accumulated for today is to a certain extent insufficient. Multifactorial methods for establishing the prescription of the limitation period of death using an integrated and systematic approach have not been developed.

The formation of scientifically sound strategies of enterprises should be based on the results of the assessment of their economic development potential. This assessment makes it possible to identify the most promising ways for enterprises for their further development and find out reserves for improving the economic efficiency and the growth of the financial results of the economic activity of these enterprises. In this regard, the purpose of the study was to develop theoretical principles and substantiate the sequence of assessing the potential of the economic development of enterprises. It is shown that the potential of the economic development of business entities is a complex system that contains a number of interconnected subsystems. However, the relationships between these subsystems are largely hierarchical. Under such conditions, the assessment of the magnitude of the potential of economic development of enterprises requires the application of a systematic approach based on the study of the mechanism of the formation of the strategic economic potential of economic entities. A number of postulates were established on which the methods of assessing the potential of economic development of enterprises should be based. In particular, it is noted that the functional properties of the enterprise are determined by the functional properties of its subsystems and individual resources, as well as the functional properties of the environment, which allow the company to implement its respective functional properties. The functional properties of subsystems and individual resources of the enterprise are determined by its internal (constructive) properties. Accordingly, ensuring the economic development of the enterprise in some of its functional properties requires changes in certain internal properties of the enterprise. A generalized model for assessing the potential of the economic development of the enterprise has been developed. It provides for the establishment of relationships between the properties of the enterprise, its components, ongoing processes, and the external environment. The sequence of estimating the potential of the economic development of the enterprise by its certain functional property is presented. The general sequence of the process of assessing the potential of the economic development of the enterprise is formed.
