A Built-ln Concurrent Self-Test (BICST) technique for testing combinational logic circuits concurrently with their normal operation is proposed. Concept of sharing the test hardware between identical circuits to reduce the overall area overhead is introduced. The method was implemented in the design of an ALU with on-line test capability in CMOS technology. The additional hardware used for a 12-bit ALU was 19% of the total chip area and it did not impose any timing overhead on the operation of the ALU. The overhead decreases with an increase in the size of the ALU.Following the description of the BICST technique, measures for evaluating the performance of the BICST technique are defined. Methods for the computation of the performance measures using analytical and simulation techniques are discussed and results of these methods are reported. Methods for detecting intermittent faults and for computing the transient fault coverage using BICST are also described. The impact of BICST on the system diagnostics and system maintenance is discussed.

Abstract. In this paper we examine the impact of deep sub-micron CMOS technology on analog circuit design with a special focus on the noise performance and the ability to design low-noise preamplifiers. To point out, why CMOS technology can grow to a key technology in low-noise and high-speed applications, various amplifier stages, applied in literature, are compared. One, that fits as a current preamplifier for low-noise applications, is the current mirror. Starting from the basic current mirror, an enhanced current preamplifier is developed, that offers low-noise and high-speed operation. The suggested chip is realized in 0.12 μm CMOS technology and needs a chip area of 100 μm×280 μm. It consumes about 15 mW at a supply voltage of 1.5 V. The presented current preamplifier has a bandwidth of 750 MHz and a gain of 36 dB. The fields of application for current preamplifiers are, for instance, charge amplifiers, amplifiers for low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) based point-to-point data links or preamplifiers for photodetectors.

The use of Customer Relationship Managers to foster customers loyalty has become one of the most common business strategies in the past years.  However, CRM solutions do not fill the abundance of happily ever-after relationships that business needs, and each client’s perception is different in the buying process.  Therefore, the experience must be precise, in order to extend the loyalty period of a customer as much as possible. One of the economic sectors in which CRM’s have improved this experience is retailing, where the personalized attention to the customer is a key factor.  However, brick and mortar experiences are not enough to be aware in how environmental changes could affect the industry trends in the long term.  A base unified theoretical framework must be taken into consideration, in order to develop an adaptable model for constructing or implementing CRMs into companies. Thanks to this approximation, the information is complemented, and the outcome will increment the quality in any Marketing/Sales initiative. The goal of this article is to explore the different factors grouped by three main domains within the impact of service quality, from a consumer’s perspective, in both on-line and off-line retailing sector.  Secondly, we plan to go a step further and extract base guidelines about previous analysis for designing CRM’s solutions focused on the loyalty of the customers for a specific retailing sector and its product: Sports Running Shoes.

This paper presents the design of a 60[Formula: see text]GHz-band LNA intended for the 63.72–65.88[Formula: see text]GHz frequency range (channel-4 of the 60[Formula: see text]GHz band). The LNA is designed in a 65-nm CMOS technology and the design methodology is based on a constant-current-density biasing scheme. Prior to designing the LNA, a detailed investigation into the transistor and passives performances at millimeter-wave (MMW) frequencies is carried out. It is shown that biasing the transistors for an optimum noise figure performance does not degrade their power gain significantly. Furthermore, three potential inductive transmission line candidates, based on coplanar waveguide (CPW) and microstrip line (MSL) structures, have been considered to realize the MMW interconnects. Electromagnetic (EM) simulations have been performed to design and compare the performances of these inductive lines. It is shown that the inductive quality factor of a CPW-based inductive transmission line ([Formula: see text] is more than 3.4 times higher than its MSL counterpart @ 65[Formula: see text]GHz. A CPW structure, with an optimized ground-equalizing metal strip density to achieve the highest inductive quality factor, is therefore a preferred choice for the design of MMW interconnects, compared to an MSL. The LNA achieves a measured forward gain of [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]dB with good input and output impedance matching of better than [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]dB in the desired frequency range. Covering a chip area of 1256[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m[Formula: see text]m including the pads, the LNA dissipates a power of only 16.2[Formula: see text]mW.

Accidents of icing on catenary have great impacts on normal operation of trains. An on-line anti-icing technology used static var generator (SVG) for catenary was proposed, which can prevent icing formation without interrupting trains normal operation. The heat balance equations for catenary were solved, whose results were compared with data provided by TB/T 3111 and testing show the equation was correct. The simulation model based on Matlab was bulit , whose results and analysis show the correctness of the method.

The first of the research objectives discussed in this article was to analyze the differences related to the valuation of particular factors influencing the purchase process in the smartphone industry, expressed by respondents with different sensitivity and environmental awareness, as well as the assessment of their knowledge about the impact of smartphones on the natural environment. The second objective of the research was to determine whether the level of environmental sensitivity, awareness and knowledge about the impact of smartphones on the environment has a statistically significant influence on the respondents’ choice of smartphone brand. The survey was conducted using an on-line questionnaire, distributed by a specialized research agency on a representative sample of over 1000 Polish residents. In order to identify the various customers clusters, the expectation-maximization algorithm and the v-fold cross-validation were used. Additionally, in order to analyze the significance level of differences between clusters the nonparametric Mann-Whitney U-test was carried out. The results show unequivocally that people with a different approach to ecological issues demonstrate statistically significant differences in their purchasing behaviors in the smartphone industry. Furthermore, it was noticed that in the case of comparing some smartphones brands, there is a statistically confirmed difference in the environmental sensitivity and awareness of the customers who use them. Moreover, the research has shown that in Polish customers’ consciousness smartphones are mistakenly considered to be relatively safe and environmentally friendly products.

In this paper, a novel image denoising algorithm and novel input features are proposed. The algorithm is applied to phase-resolved partial discharge (PRPD) diagrams with a single dominant partial discharge (PD) source, preparing them for automatic artificial-intelligence-based classification. It was designed to mitigate several sources of distortions often observed in PRPDs obtained from fully operational hydroelectric generators. The capabilities of the denoising algorithm are the automatic removal of sparse noise and the suppression of non-dominant discharges, including those due to crosstalk. The input features are functions of PD distributions along amplitude and phase, which are calculated in a novel way to mitigate random effects inherent to PD measurements. The impact of the proposed contributions was statistically evaluated and compared to classification performance obtained using formerly published approaches. Higher recognition rates and reduced variances were obtained using the proposed methods, statistically outperforming autonomous classification techniques seen in earlier works. The values of the algorithm’s internal parameters are also validated by comparing the recognition performance obtained with different parameter combinations. All typical PD sources described in hydro-generators PD standards are considered and can be automatically detected.
