A simple, noninvasive, and economical home-made respirometer has been used to determine the standard metabolism of goldfish. The apparatus has been tested on several fishes and has proved its accuracy in determining a mass effect on standard metabolism. The apparatus can be made easily by middle school, high school, and undergraduate students and can be used to introduce them to basic concepts in animal physiology and in biological statistics.

This work describes the design and implementation of an escape room celebrating the International Year of the Periodic Table (2019). The main goal of the escape room is that the participants achieve, through the game, both specific competencies, such as basic concepts of chemistry, and transversal competencies, like teamwork and creativity. The most important aspects that must be addressed when creating an escape room (the story, the setting, and the riddles) are described in detail to help and motivate other teachers to implement a similar or related activity. In particular, the riddles are designed so that they give students an idea about the difficulties encountered by the scientists involved in the elaboration of the periodic table as well as to give them a small glimpse of the awe of discovery. The activity is aimed at high school students (ages 15-18) as well as undergraduate students.

Although created mainly for other purposes, spreadsheets appear to be useful in mathematics education. For instance, Russell (1992) writes about spreadsheet activities in middle school mathematics in his book with the same title. In a Mathematics Teacher article, Hunt (1995) describes how he uses spreadsheets to teach students synthetic substitution, synthetic division, and Newton's method. Our experience shows that the same tool can be useful for performing matru operations and, further on, for introducing students to basic concepts of linear algebra. The interested reader can find additional examples of using spreadsheets in high school mathematics in Sjostrand's (1994) book, which deals with Excel spreadsheets.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to explore the ways in which adolescent students who stutter perceive their school experiences. Method This study used a qualitative, phenomenological research design. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 7 adolescent students who stutter (3 in middle school and 4 in high school). Participants were interviewed about their school experiences, including the effects of stuttering on academics, learning, teacher relationships, peer relationships, speech therapy experiences, and self-image. Data analysis consisted of transcribing interviews and analyzing them for emerging themes. Results Findings revealed that participants described a variety of experiences around the school setting. Participants reported less favorable middle school experiences. Middle school participants reflected more on teasing, bullying, and feelings of embarrassment, whereas high school participants revealed that teachers, staff, and peers were receptive and accepting of them and their stuttering. All participants reported that their speech therapy helped with classroom participation. Conclusions As a result of the participants' varied experiences, it is important to listen to and incorporate the voices of students who stutter into school, classroom, and therapy decision-making practices.

This research was motivated by the weakness of teachers in carrying out the learning process in Bandar Laksamana 1 Public Middle School. The purpose of this study is to improve the skills of teachers teaching in the classroom with the help of supervision. This research was conducted at Bandar Laksamana 1 Public Middle School. This research is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles with. Each cycle consists of four stages such as planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results of the study show that on the basic score, teacher teaching skills are included in the sufficient category with an average score of 60.21. After improvements were made in the first cycle, the results of the teacher's skills assessment increased to a good category with the teacher's average score of 75.54. For the implementation of the teacher's skills assessment in teaching in the second cycle again increased with a very good category with an average value of 85.75. Based on the results of the above research, researchers can conclude that with the implementation of supervision in Bandar Laksamana 1 Junior High School can improve teacher skills in teaching.

We present a spreadsheet-assisted exercise using Microsoft Excel software for the<br>determination of the universal gas constant, R, in 35,712 different units. This large<br>number of units arises from a simple enumeration of possible pressure-volume unit<br>combinations and energy unit combinations covering SI (metric), Imperial (British), and<br>American units. In turn, various units for force and area used for defining pressure, and<br>various units for force and distance used for defining energy are explored. This<br>presentation serves as an excellent exercise for high school and undergraduate students to<br>master the skill of dimensional analysis, unit conversions, and basic combinatorics in<br>general chemistry and physical chemistry courses. Instructors can also use the described<br>exercise of constructing conversion matrices to train students in how to efficiently use the<br>Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program.
