In this paper we present T1K+, a very large, heterogeneous database of high-quality texture images acquired under variable conditions. T1K+ contains 1129 classes of textures ranging from natural subjects to food, textile samples, construction materials, etc. T1K+ allows the design of experiments especially aimed at understanding the specific issues related to texture classification and retrieval. To help the exploration of the database, all the 1129 classes are hierarchically organized in 5 thematic categories and 266 sub-categories. To complete our study, we present an evaluation of hand-crafted and learned visual descriptors in supervised texture classification tasks.

How to coordinate heterogeneous database to realize sharing and consistency of information not only is an important research subject in the database filed, but also is an emerging research hot spot in the field of database system. As a new development direction of computer software, it applies some new techniques to integrate the existing systems to develop new applications. The paper analyzes CSCW, XML, JDBC and heterogeneous database, and proposes a solution of heterogeneous database. The solution absorbs the thoughts of database meta data, middle ware and LDAP directory service.

The technology of object persistence is first introduced. And then an designing scheme of information system is put forward, in which the object persistence layer is based on Hibernate; Finally, the scheme is implemented by Myeclispse development environment. The experiment result demonstrates the scheme simplifies data access processing, improves the readability, maintainability of code and efficiency of programming.
