ABSTRACT The article describes the origin, development and main results of Embrapa Vegetables' Capsicum breeding program, a continuous activity for more than three decades. The article points out and highlights how partnerships, both in Brazil and abroad, both with the public and the private sectors, were vital to the success of the program. The article also glosses over the development of the Capsicum germplasm bank and its importance to the breeding program, concluding with a set of faced challenges and lessons learned which might be of interest to other similar programs.

The complexity of life is increasing in a sophisticated way. The evolution of human civilization from primitive conditions to being completely technological is a reality that cannot be denied. This is due to talking about a civilization certainly will not be separated from people's lives as a continuous activity. The development of technobily directs the activities of life to always look for opportunities behind the crevices of creative thinking piles of each individual. Therefore, the chance of getting these opportunities is getting smaller. Especially if we focus our study in the context of da’wah (an invitation to Islam) which is a noble activity to invite people on the right path according to the religious guidance that God commands through the great prophet Muhammad PBUH and its truth is highly recognized. Therefore, it is very essential to position Da’wah at a stage where Da'wah has a great opportunity to occupy a strategic position so that the visions and missions of Da'wah can reach the society which is getting more complex in today's modern era. Therefore, this paper discussed about management strategies that are correlated with Da’wah because preaching with a noble vision will not be successful without good management and strategy.

This chapter demonstrates how Ptolemy's distinctly mathematical ethics emerges from his response to a contemporary debate over the relationship between theoretical and practical philosophy. He first asserts that the two are independent, differentiated by the manner in which one attains virtues in each domain, whether by instruction or continuous activity. Thereafter, he diminishes the distinction by revealing how they relate. Theoretical philosophy, specifically mathematics, transforms the soul. The study of astronomical objects—the movements and configurations of heavenly bodies—reveals their constancy, good order, commensurability, and calm. Mathematicians, aided by habit, come to appreciate these qualities and transform their souls into a fine and well-ordered state. Organizing their actions in accordance with astronomical theories, they never forget their ultimate objective, the divine-like condition of the soul. The study of mathematics is crucial to obtaining this good life.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), regardless of their topic, are a perfect space to generate, through virtual learning communities associated with them, very valuable resources for their participants and, in general, anyone interested in the topic covered. If in the design of these learning spaces, elements specific to games are added to them, which is known as gamification, we can try to increase the engagement of the student towards the course and, therefore, towards the community. This paper presents an experience of a MOOC of Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain) with a connectivist approach. Aspects such as fun and motivation have been worked on in the design, through the application of gamified activities and the use of elements from social networks, considered as gamification, with the aim of increasing participation and engagement within a Facebook group, used as a community to support the course. We have analyzed aspects such as enjoyment and motivation, the result of which has been active participation and high engagement within the MOOC community in the form of content and especially great interaction, highlighting the existence of continuous activity once the edition of the MOOC is finished, as a consequence of a habit generated in the student.

A 6650-m thickness of volcanic rocks at Lake St. Joseph is here interpreted as an Archaean composite strato-volcano. Despite severe deformation, primary mesoscopic fabrics are well-preserved. They permit the inference of a physical eruptive history, to which the chemistry can be related. The lowermost 2700-m of flows, pillow breccias, and autobreccias are exclusively basaltic, and indicate quiet, probably semi-continuous activity. Interruption of this activity is shown by an intraformational conglomerate developed on a metadiorite, which has thermally metamorphosed argillite lenses intercalated with the flows. Subsequently, activity became more episodic and violent, yielding, first, 750-m of mixed flows and fragmental rocks, substantially andesitic; and then 3200-m of fragmental rocks, substantially salic. Basaltic dikes ramify through the volcanic pile. Several rhyolitic or dacitic flows are regarded as flank eruptions.Generally, these volcanic rocks have trends somewhat similar to trends for other Archaean volcanics. However, there is an iron enrichment trend which we suggest indicates an initially low pO2 increasing as the volcano ages. This increase may indicate an increase in total gas pressure, compatible with the change from quiet to violent eruptive mode.
