This article is an introduction to the Special Issue on Model-Driven Service Engineering. The issue contains three of the best papers selected from the 1st and 2nd International Workshop on Model-Driven Service Engineering (MoSE). In this introduction, we motivate and expose what we consider as boarding open research challenges coming from the combination of this two emerging disciplines such as Model-Driven Engineering and Service Engineering.
