Abstract. The taxonomic identity of the dinoflagellate cyst genus Polygonifera Habib, 1972 is confirmed, through the recognition of additional morphological characters during the study of specimens from Early-Middle Cretaceous sediments of India. A revised definition of this genus is presented. Leberidocysta Stover &amp; Evitt, 1978 is considered a subjective junior synonym of Polygonifera and its type species Leberidocysta (ex: Hexagonifera) chlamydata (Cookson &amp; Eisenack) is transferred to Polygonifera. The other species placed in Leberidocysta are provisionally reattributed to other genera, becoming Craspedodinium (ex: Hexagonifera) defloccata (Davey), Craspedodinium (ex: Palaeostomocystis) pergamentacea (Burger), Hexagonifera laticaudata Vozzhennikova and Hexagonifera scabrata Jain &amp; Taugourdeau-Lantz. A new species, Polygonifera eisenackii, is described. Morphological differences between the camocavate genera Polygonifera and Dingodinium are clarified.

A cladistic analysis of the genus Melanophora Meigen, 1803 (type-species: Musca grossificationis Linnaeus, 1758 [= Musca roralis Linnaeus, 1758]) is presented and the generic delimitation is critically redefined. The nominal genus-group taxon Bequaertiana Curran, 1929 (type-species: Bequaertiana argyriventris Curran, 1929) is synonymised with Melanophora Meigen syn. nov. The following new combinations are proposed: Melanophora argyriventris (Curran, 1929) comb. nov. and Melanophora basilewskyi (Peris, 1957) comb. nov. Melanophora chia sp. nov. from SW Sardinia is described, illustrated and compared with the other known species of the genus. The male of Melanophora asetosa Kugler, 1978 is described for the first time. Melanophora basilewskyi (Peris, 1957) is recorded from Kenya for the first time.

A new species of Dichelops (Diceraeus) Dallas and the so-far unknown male of Dichelops (Prodichelops) divisus (Walker, 1867) are described, based upon morphological characters. D. (Dice.) caatinguensis sp. nov. is compared to the other four species of Diceraeus. Revised keys to separate the subgenera of Dichelops and the species of Diceraeus are also presented. D. (P.) divisus male is described and compared to the type species. Comparative illustrations of external and internal genitalia of the species are provided.

The definitions of terebellid genera have caused considerable confusion. Some genera, such asPistaMalmgren, 1866, are clearly not monophyletic and the need to revise them is widely accepted. A phylogenetic analysis of genus level morphological characters within theAxionice/Pistacomplex and other Terebellidae with large lateral lobes revealed two well defined groups; these differed in the arrangement of different forms of lateral lobes on segments 1–3, the shape of the branchiae, structure of the ventral pads and, if present, the origin of the manubrium on the uncini. One of the groups includes the type species ofPista; the other includes the type species ofAxioniceand almost all the other genera whose taxonomic status is discussed in this paper (Betapista,Eupistella,Lanice,Loimia,Paraxionice) which we propose to treat as its junior synonyms. Three other genera –Lanicides,LanicolaandScionella– did not fall within these two groups; they are accepted as distinct. A complete list of species ofAxioniceandPistais provided; 39 species currently included inPistashould be moved toAxionice, thusAxioniceincludes at least 94 species. Many authors’ descriptions of the type species ofPista(Amphitrite cristataMüller, 1776) conflict with the original description.Amphitrite cristatas. str. has been described as a new species:Scionella lornensisPearson, 1969 and the type species of a new genus:PistellaHartmann-Schröder, 1996.Scionella lornensisis here considered a junior synonym ofAmphitrite cristata. Redescriptions of the type species ofAxioniceandPistaare provided.

We describe a new species of Selvasaura from the montane forests of the eastern slopes of the Andes in northern Peru, based on external and hemipenial morphological characters and previous phylogenetic analyses. The new species can be differentiated from the other two Selvasaura species in having keeled dorsal scales usually flanked by longitudinal striations, in adults and juveniles; adult males with a yellow vertebral stripe bordered by broad dark brown stripes on each side and a unilobed hemipenis surrounded by the branches of the sulcus spermaticus. The description of the new species contributes information about new states of diagnostic characters of Selvasaura and natural history.

The harvestman genus Bonea Roewer, 1914 and its type species B. sarasinorum Roewer, 1914 are redescribed based on the type material. In addition, two new species of Bonea from Hainan Island, China, are described and illustrated: B. zhui sp. nov. and B. tridigitata sp. nov. A new species of Lomanius Roewer, 1923 from Yunnan Province, China, is also described and illustrated: L. bulbosus sp. nov.. Keys to the 10 species of Bonea and the six species of Lomanius are provided. Paralomanius Goodnight & Goodnight, 1948 is revalidated from the synonymy of Lomanius, carrying as junior synonym Eulomanius Roewer, 1949, and containing two species from Micronesia (Paralomanius longipalpus Goodnight & Goodnight, 1948) and Philippines (Paralomanius mindanaoensis (Suzuki, 1977) new status). Bonea is transferred from the Ibaloniinae to Podoctinae. These are the first records of named species of Podoctidae from China.

Aethiopella Handschin, 1942 as other Pseudachorutinae (Neanuridae) presents a diagnosis with overlapping characters when compared to other similar genera, especially Halachorutes Arlé, 1966, Ceratrimeria Börner, 1906 and Pseudachorutes Tullberg, 1871. This condition, combined to several gaps on the knowledge of described species and a wide range of morphological differences within the genus, reinforces the need of its revision, since it can be an artificial group. In spite of that, a new species, Aethiopella ricardoi sp. nov., is described and illustrated. It resembles the other five Neotropical taxa of Aethiopella but is unique by the combination of fourth antennal segment with trilobed apical bulb and 7 dorsal sensilla, lack of dorsolateral S-microchaeta (ms); postantennal organ with 13–19 vesicles; mandibles with 7–8 teeth; maxillae apically hooked; and tibiotarsi I–III with 19/19/18 chaetae, respectively, with M chaeta slightly basally displaced. We also present an updated diagnosis of Aethiopella based on current knowledge of Pseudachorutinae, a table comparing all species, a key to Neotropical taxa and remarks on the genus.

  The newly described species, Ziziphus budhensis was confirmed as Chinese Jujuba, Z. xiangchengensis on the basis of their DNA analyses. Z. budhensis was explained as a new species on the basis of some morphological differences in 2015. In the Year 2016, the DNA samples were collected from the type locality of Nepal, and the molecular analyses were carried out. The type specimens and the other available images from the different herbariums were examined. Besides, the protologue and the type images were studied carefully. The result showed that though there were some differences in the habit and the habitat of the plant, the previously described new species, Z. budhensis was found to be same as the Chinese species, Z. xiangchengensis. This study also showed the importance of the molecular work of Z. budhensis and confirmed it morphologically distinct although it was very close to the Chinese species.Banko Janakari, Vol. 27, No. 1, page: 55-59

Of the 16 species listed in the genus Liophloeothrips (ThripsWiki 2018), 13 are known only from India, and all of these are phytophagous with some inducing galls in various plant families (Tyagi & Kumar 2011). However, the biology of the type species, L. glaber, as well as that of the other two species, L. hungaricus and L. pulchrisetis, remains in doubt. Each of these three species is from Europe, with L. pulchrisetis known from a single female, L. glaber from two specimens, and hungaricus recorded from Hungary, Finland and Iran on a very few individuals (Minaei & Mound 2014). The record of L. hungaricus from Iran was published without any information concerning the locality, date of collection, or number of specimens (Mortazawiha 1995). However, Minaei and Mound (2014) pointed out that the slide label data of L. hungaricus specimens from Europe suggested that this species is associated with the bark of certain Salicaceae. Moreover, they indicated the possibility that the three names might actually represent a single species, although the male of L. glabrus has a sternal pore plate whereas this is apparently absent in hungaricus. Given the few known specimens, it is not possible to know if these thrips live under bark and feed on fungal hyphae, or if the few specimens collected were actually leaf-feeders that were sheltering under bark. In this paper, a new species of the genus is described from southern Iran, based on both sexes. These specimens were extracted from leaf litter using a Berlese funnel, thus again it is not possible to be certain if the species is part of the community of fungus-feeding litter thrips, or if the specimens were merely sheltering.

All previous records of Pachycheles rugimanus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880, from the Brazilian coast are reviewed and prove to represent a new species, P. coelhoi sp. nov. (from Amapá, northern Brazilian coast), and P. ackleianus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880, a species already known from Brazil (from Pará to Rio de Janeiro). The new species is described and illustrated, and compared to its most similar congeners: P. rugimanus and P. ackleianus from the western Atlantic, and P. velerae Haig, 1960, from the eastern Pacific (Galapagos Island and Cocos Island). Pachycheles coelhoi sp. nov. is distinguishable from the other three species by a suite of morphological characters, which include the ornamentation of the carapace and chelipeds, and the shape of the third thoracic sternite. All previous records of P. rugimanus from Brazil are considered invalid.

Maldivea Gerlach, 1962 is a possible endemic genus of the Maldivian archipelago for which only M. xarifae Gerlach, 1962 has been described so far. A new species of this genus, M. complexa n.sp., was recently found in Felidhoo atoll. It reveals a more complex structure of gubernaculum than in type species which appears to be divided into two pieces: one is a sort of long wing in the ventral part of the spicule and the other one, more complex, is characterized by several curved stripes which envelop the dorsal side of the spicule distal part. According to the present considerations, diagnoses of Paroxystomininae and Maldivea are emended.
