Abstract In this work we study the weak decays of $$\Xi _{cc}\rightarrow \Xi _c$$Ξcc→Ξc and $$\Xi _{cc}\rightarrow \Xi '_c$$Ξcc→Ξc′ in the light-front quark model. Generally, a naive, but reasonable conjecture suggests that the cc subsystem in $$\Xi _{cc}$$Ξcc ( us pair in $$\Xi ^{(')}_c$$Ξc(′)) stands as a diquark with definite spin and color assignments. During the concerned processes, the diquark of the initial state is not a spectator, namely must be broken. A Racah transformation would decompose the original (cc)q into a combination of c(cq) components. Thus we may deal with the decaying c quark alone while keeping the (cq) subsystem as a spectator. With the re-arrangement of the inner structure we calculate the form factors numerically and then obtain the rates of semi-leptonic decays and non-leptonic decays, which will be measured in the future.

Leptonic decays of B-mesons are theoretically very clean probes for testing the Standard Model (SM) and possible physics beyond it. Amongst the various leptonic decays of the B-meson, the pure dileptonic decay B → ℓ+ ℓ- is very important, as this mode is helicity suppressed in the SM but can be substantially enhanced in some of the models beyond the SM, such as supersymmetric (SUSY) theories and the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). Although the purely dileptonic decay mode is helicity suppressed in the SM its associated mode B → ℓ+ ℓ-γ does not have the same suppression, due to the presence of γ in the final state. In this paper we will also analyze the effects of enhanced Z-penguins on these two decay modes.

Weak leptonic decays of light and heavy pseudoscalar mesons are studied in a field-theoretic quark model where the mesons are described by constituent quarks and antiquarks with a particular ansatz and a Harmonic oscillator wave function. With constituent quark masses and Harmonic oscillator radii for mesons as parameters of the model, decay constants are calculated and found as (fπ, fk, fD, fB) = (132 MeV , 161 MeV , 160 MeV , 115 MeV ) indicating a reasonable agreement with the experimental data wherever available. Partial decay widths and branching ratios for kinematically allowed leptonic decay processes are also estimated and compared with the experiments wherever available.
