Steep rise of parton densities in the limit of small parton momentum fraction x poses a challenge for describing the observed energy-dependence of the total and inelastic proton-proton cross sections σ p p tot / inel : considering a realistic parton spatial distribution, one obtains a too-strong increase of σ p p tot / inel in the limit of very high energies. We discuss various mechanisms which allow one to tame such a rise, paying special attention to the role of parton-parton correlations. In addition, we investigate a potential impact on model predictions for σ p p tot, related to dynamical higher twist corrections to parton-production processes.

The purpose of this paper is to focus on the possible effective role of two relatively less-known models in analyzing comprehensively the very up-to-date data on proton–air inelastic cross-sections at high and ultra high energies. The standard versions of all the familiar simulation-based multiparticle production models, which nowadays normally claim front-ranking positions, address on the contrary, only a small part of the cross-section data for a very limited or sectional range of energy values. Against this background, the relevance and impact of the present study have finally been highlighted.

The charged current neutrino–nucleon interaction cross-section is evaluated using Thermodynamical Bag Model (TBM) in the neutrino energy range 1 < Eν < 200 GeV with the value of the four-momentum transfer squared 0.1 < Q2 < 20 GeV 2 and the Bjorken variable 0.1 < x < 0.5. The hadronic current carries the linear moments of the reaction that depend on the Bjorken scaling variable x as well as the four-momentum transfer. The results obtained have been compared with the experimental values.

The present work is an attempt to analyze some of the so-called problematical aspects of both the AuAu and PbPb collisions at high energies. In the framework of a phenomenological theory, called here the combinational approach (CA), we have attempted to obtain in this work the nature of the ratios of (i) invariant cross-sections in AuAu and PbPb reactions to the binary-scaled PP interaction cross-section values and (ii) the latest spurt of values on secondary proton-to-pion (p/π) ratios which have stirred much excitements recently. To our surprise, at least up to nearly pT = 4 GeV/c , we find no exotic or novel nuclear-medium effects with regard to the explanation for both observations. And in this domain it is seen that our model reproduces the reported experimental features modestly well. However, the region beyond pT = 4 GeV/c apparently necessitates introduction of various second-order effects arising out of multiple collisions involving the interacting partons; and needs to be explored separately by more detailed and in-depth future studies.

The charge exchange forward scattering amplitude 1.1 1.2 using an interpolation of the total cross sections which includes the results presented by Dr Galbraith at this meeting. From F (-) follows a prediction for the charge exchange forward cross section (c.m. system) 1.3 which will be compared with the experimental data including those presented by Dr Falk-Vairant and Dr Guerriero.
