Two new species of rhagidiid mites from the Nearctic region, Foveacheles pribilovi n.sp. and F. mexicana n.sp., are described. A detailed description of F. arenaria (Willmann) based on Canadian material is given. A key to adults of the known subgenera and 31 species of the genus Foveacheles Zacharda for the world is presented.

AbstractThe Nearctic fauna of the genus Calamoncosis Enderlein is reviewed. Five species are present in eastern North America: C. carncrossi Nartshuk was recently described from New York; the Palearctic species C. aprica (Meigen) and C. glyceriae Nartshuk are newly recorded, and two new species, C. brooksi and C. munda, are described from eastern North America. A sixth species present in the Nearctic Region is represented by one female specimen and is not identifiable. Most Nearctic specimens were collected in peatlands or marshes in Quebec, but there are scattered records from other grass-dominated habitats in Ontario, Manitoba, New York, and Texas. A key to the described species of Calamoncosis in the Nearctic Region is given.

AbstractTwo new species of metallic-green Coleophora are described from the Nearctic region: C. alabama Landry from coastal Alabama, U.S.A.; and C. mexicana Landry from the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. Modifications to the key to adults of the Nearctic species of metallic-green Coleophora from Landry and Wright (1993) are provided to account for these new species. Larval host plants and natural history are unknown. Both species are tentatively placed in the ramitella group. Coleophora mayrella (Hübner), originally from the Old World but long established in North America, is recorded for the first time from South America (Chile and Argentina).

A checklist of Gelechiidae in America north of Mexico is provided based on additions of new taxa and nomenclatorial changes in publications since 1978. This checklist includes the addition of 253 new species and 8 new genera, 30 species and 5 genera previously unrecorded from North America, 4 species inadvertently omitted in the previous checklist, and many nomenclatorial changes. Ymeldia Hodges, 1963 is transferred to Oecophoridae. Eight new taxa of Eriophyidae mites associated with native trees in the Cupania genus—C. oblongifolia Mart. and C. impressinervia Acev (Sapindaceae)—from the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, are described and illustrated. They include two new genera and two new species of Nothopodinae, Colopodacini (Setibia domatiagena   gen. nov., sp. nov. and Aricolopodos alagoensis gen. nov., sp. nov.), one new genus and two new species of Cecidophyinae, Colomerini (Euryslobos keronidos gen. nov., sp. nov. and Gammaphytoptus cupanius sp. nov.), and one new species of Phyllocoptinae, Tegonotini (Shevtchenkella caboata sp. nov.).

Abstract We describe two new species of the freshwater-crab genus Demanietta  Bott, 1966 from Tanintharyi (Tenasserim) division, southern Myanmar (Burma), Demanietta liui  sp. nov. and Demanietta lenya  sp. nov.  Demanietta liui  sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to D. thagatensis  Rathbun, 1904 and D. khirikhan  Yeo, Naiyanetr & Ng, 1999; D. lenya  sp. nov. appears close to D. manii  Rathbun, 1904, D. merguensis  Bott, 1966, and D. nakhonsi  Yeo, Naiyanetr & Ng, 1999. The two new species are easily distinguished from their most similar congeners in the shape of the external orbital tooth, epibranchial tooth, and male first gonopod. Molecular analysis based on partial mitochondrial 16S rDNA also supports the systematic position of the new taxa.
