The dichotomous choice contingent valuation method was used to determine the net economic value of moose hunting in Newfoundland. Specific questions addressed the value of changes in moose hunting that could result from forest management. Three statistical models were used to determine mean and median welfare measures for four different contingent valuation models. The values obtained are similar to other studies that have obtained economic values for big-game hunting. The results show that although differences in welfare measures exist between statistical models, the mean and median values within a specification appear to be relatively robust. The results also suggest that factors affected by forest management (e.g., moose populations) provide more substantial benefits than factors under the control of the administrative agency (e.g., season length).

The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of Geomun Oreum (GO), a parasitic volcanic sieve, for sustainable management by using the dichotomous choice contingent valuation method. To address the exaggeration tendency of willingness to pay (WTP), the contingent valuation method’s (CVM’s) traditional threshold, respondents’ WTP answers were reconfirmed to screen only true responses for our analysis. In addition to estimating the economic value, the causal relationship between the tour guide’s quality of explanation and the respondents’ payment intention is examined in the study. The results reveal that the estimated preservation value of GO is 35,881 KRW (33.28 USD), and the quality of the tour guide’s narrative is statistically related to the respondents’ payment intention.

This paper applied Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) to estimate the recreational value of Urban Park— “219 park”. The economic value analysis of recreational activities will technically enrich the connotation of part management, which can benefit the transition of recreational activities and resource management from extensive to intensive; by compared the two results, it will also provide a important references on rules and measures for government and relevant authorities.

Aim of study: To estimate grazing fee and the economic value of the communal rangelands of two groups of ranchers. Area of study: Ejido Tanque de Arenas (ETA) and ejido Tanque de Dolores (ETD) in Catorce, San Luis Potosí, Mexico Material and methods: The contingent valuation method with referendum format was used to propose a grazing fee that would allow conservation and continuity in the use of the common resource. The field information was collected by interviews and was processed in the PASW Statistics 22 software NLOGIT Version 5.0. Main results: Perception of rangeland deterioration, age, size of the herd, and level of income are characteristics of ranchers that influence the willingness to pay. From the coefficient of rangeland of the region (24.2 ha/AU) a monthly grazing fee of USD 7.18 per animal was calculated. Research highlights: Estimation and payment of grazing fees are an alternative to avoid the deterioration of communal rangelands, without incurring land parcelization.

Economic Value of Medicinal Plants in Danau Sentarum National Park, West KalimantanDanau Sentarum National Park (DSNP) is a conservation area which has an important role in people’s lives and society Kapuas Hulu in West Kalimantan. The objective of this study was to estimate the value of medicinal plants in the area TNDS. Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) with a single bounded was use to determine the willingness to pay for medicine plants. Data collected through direct interviews with 90 local households in DSNP using a questionnaire. Data analysis was done with MS. Excel® and SPSS® statistical software. The results show the variable value of the bid, income, age, education, and knowledge of medicinal plants significantly aect the value of WTP. The expected WTP is found between IDR50.354,22 to IDR72.312,44 per household per month. Keywords: Contingent Valuation Method; Single BoundWillingness to Pay; Danau Sentarum National Park (DSNP) AbstrakTaman Nasional Danau Sentarum (TNDS) adalah kawasan konservasi yang memiliki peran penting bagi kehidupan masyarakat di Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu dan masyarakat Provinsi Kalimantan Barat.

Economic Valuation of Recreational Fishing Tourism in Tanjung Kait Coastal Water, Tangerang, Banten: Contingent Valuation Method and Travel Cost Method Approach Tanjung Kait, located in the north coast of Tangerang, has undeveloped tourism potential of recreational fishing on a bamboo platform in the middle of the sea. The purpose of this research was to determine the economic value of recreational fishing tourism in Tanjung Kait and to identify the influencing factors of the tourism demand in Tanjung Kait. Methods used in this research were Travel Cost Method (TCM) and Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). Linear regression was used to determine influencing factors of tourism demand. Data were obtained by interviewing tourists as respondents, with the help of questionnaires. The result of TCM showed that factors that significantly contributed the number of visits were education and duration of visit. Potential economic value of tourism activity in Tanjung Kait based on TCM reached IDR 3,272,524,846 annually. The result of CVM showed that the factor that significantly affected willingness-to-pay was education. Potential economic value of tourism activity in Tanjung Kait based on CVM reached IDR 2,254,934,539 annually.

AbstractThis study is an application of cultural heritage valuation using non-market methods. Contingent Valuation Method used to measure the amount of economic value by estimating willingness to pay from Surabaya residents. The economic value of the Old Town Area of Surabaya if there were improvementanddevelopment of heritage tourism is Rp. 1.471.764 billion. This value is greater than before improvement and development that is only Rp. 3.914.892.240. Multinomial logit regression was used to identify factors that affect the interest to visit and willingness to pay for the respondent. Results indicates that age, education, income, and knowledge significantly influence the interest to visit and willingness to pay. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage the development of heritage tourism, having regard to the determination of stakeholder and policy priorities. The method used in the determination of stakeholder and policy priorities is the Analytic Hierarchy Process.Overall, the use of three methods provide complete results so it can be a reference in the field of cultural heritage research and advice in the development of heritage tourism, especially in the old city area of Surabaya. Keywords: economic valuation, multinomial logistic regression, contingent valuation method, analythical hierarchy process.

-The case study examines the economic aspects of cultural heritage conservation and deals the valuation of economic value in monetary terms, using the application of the contingent valuation method to the castle of Nicastro (Catanzaro, Italy). For the construction of the hypothetical market and the selection criteria and approach to subjects of the statistic sample, the proposed solutions work with operative adjustments, dictated by the characteristics of the resource in question and in general for all cultural resources. The study has produced reliable answers to questions of willingness to pay, expressing the measure of the different components of the value (use value and existence value) contribute to the composition of the total economic value. The study allowed to verify the possibility of using the contingent valuation as a political tool. The particular question format, which combines ‘double bounded dichotomous choice' and ‘open ended' techniques has allowed us to take a sensitivity analysis, defining the measure of willingness to pay.Key words: evaluation cultural resource, contingent valuation method, willingness to payParole chiave: valutazione, beni culturali, metodo di valutazione contingente, disponibilitŕ a pagare
