Quantitative ion exchange and 4π counting techniques have been used to measure the yields of four nuclides not previously determined by mass spectrometric analysis. Values of 6.57, 6.30, 4.74, and 5.71% were obtained respectively for Ba139, La141, Sr89, and Sr91 relative to a value of 6.32% for the yield of Ba140. A precision better than 1.3% was achieved in the measurements.

Relative yields of Sr89, Sr91, Ba139, Ba140, and La141 have been measured for U233 and Pu239 thermal neutron fission. Ion exchange separations and 4π beta-counting methods were used. The following relative values were obtained for the nuclides as listed: 1.05, 1.00, 1.00, 1, and 1.10 in U233 fission and 0.301, 0.431, 1.07, 1, and 1.01 in Pu239 fission.

The relative yields of isotopes of xenon, cesium, barium, cerium, neodymium, and samarium formed by the thermal neutron fission of 241Pu have been obtained by mass spectrometric methods. The relative yields of the elements were normalized by means of the isotope dilution and isobaric techniques, and absolute cumulative yields were determined by summing the relative yields to 100%. The curve obtained for 241Pu is compared with other mass–yield curves. The general shape of this mass–yield curve is similar to that for 239Pu; yet the fine structure shows greater similarity to that for 235U thermal-neutron fission.

The relative cumulative yields for isotopes of the elements krypton, strontium, xenon, cesium, cerium, and neodymium formed in the thermal-neutron fission of 229Th have been determined by mass spectrometric techniques. Normalization of the relative yields by means of the isotope dilution and isobaric techniques has allowed estimates to be made of the absolute cumulative yields of the heavy-mass group by forcing the sum of the yields to total 100%.

The yield of Cs138 in thermal neutron fission of U235 has been investigated using the 4π counting technique. The value obtained for the fission yield is (7.22 ± 0.29)% based on a value of 6.32% for the fission yield of Ba140. The half-life of Cs138 was determined and found to be 32.2 ± 0.1 min.
