Recent molecular-beam, laser-rf, double-resonance measurements of the hfs intervals in the X2Σ ground state of CaBr have been supplemented with laser scans of the hfs of sub-Doppler B ↔ X optical lines in a molecular beam to provide greatly improved values for the hfs constants of the excited B2Σ state. The values b = 11.8 ± 0.4 MHz and eqQ = 30.4 ± 1.0 MHz are reported for the hyperfine constants of Ca79Br in its B2Σ2, ν′ = 0 state; c is found to have a magnitude not more than about 10 MHz, and may be negative.

For ethylbromide a determination of the parameters of internal rotation is given derived from the rotational spectrum of the torsional and vibrational ground state. The Br-hyperfine structure is reanalysed with higher precision. As high J transitions were measured a centrifugal distortion analysis was necessary.
