The measurement of the broadband photon yield of N2 molecules excited by electron impact, as a function of the incident electron energy, shows many structures below the ionization threshold. Most of them are due to the formation of negative ion resonances N2−.

The measurement of the intensity of the radiation emitted in the visible and near ultraviolet by Ne atoms excited by electron impact, as a function of the incident electron energy, shows many structures in the energy range 42 to 54 eV. They are attributed to excitation levels of the form 2s2p6nl, 2s22p4nln 'l' and to negative ion resonances.

The broadband photon yield in the spectral range 165–650 nm of Kr excited by monoenergetic electrons with energies from 12 to 15 eV has been measured. Several negative-ion states are observed both below and above the 2P3/2 ionization threshold. No structures are detected above the 2P1/2 limit, even with a total accumulation of 200 million counts per observation point.

The nonrelativistic Coulomb–Born approximation has been used to compute scaled collision strengths for electron impact excitation of the 1s → ns, np, nd transitions in hydrogenic ions. Results are given for n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, [Formula: see text] as a function of the incident electron energy in threshold units. Simple formulae for interpolating the tabulated results are also given.

The broadband photon yield of Kr excited by monoenergetic electron impact above the ionization threshold has been measured by means of an improved apparatus. Results are given for the energy region 22–26 eV. The observed structures are interpreted as being due to highly excited neutral states and to highly excited negative-ion states.

Double differential cross sections at six angles ranging from 45° to 143° have been measured for the 12C(e,p)e′ reaction. The proton energy ranged from 15.6 to 17.2 MeV at an incident electron energy of 200 MeV. At the backward angles our results are in good agreement with data reported by Vysotskaya and Afanas'ev but for forward angles the results are lower.
