An expression for the number of ions formed by multiphoton ionization of atoms at the focus of a Q-switched laser beam is derived assuming a rate given by existing perturbation treatments. Depletion of neutral atoms has the effect of indicating a lower than expected value for the number of photons absorbed. It is concluded that discrepancies between existing experimental data and perturbation results could be accounted for by such depletion.

We study the propagation of a linearly polarized laser beam in the external transverse magnetic field taking into consideration the vacuum polarization by arbitrary spin particles. Induced ellipticity of the beam is evaluated using the effective Lagrangian. With the help of the PVLAS experimental data, we obtain bounds on masses of charged higher spin particles contributed to ellipticity.

Recently, the world's evolving experimental design and research work on the creation of technological methods and systems of layered laser synthesis products of machine parts. These systems allow to accelerate the introduction of new technology at all stages of product design to create its original layout in full size. There are currently variety of methods sintering of metal powders. This paper presents experimental data which show the effects of the strategy of forming a sintered layer in the synthesis of products by SLS.
