Current distribution in a type II superconducting thin film, and its relevance to the DC superconducting transformer

Using the model of the viscous motion of flux lines in a type II superconductor, an expression is found for the current and field distribution in a superconducting film in the flux-flow regime. The current is peaked near the edges of the strip, the field is constant through the strip, and is very large just outside the strip close to the edges. The presence of this large field could inhibit the movement of vortices in the secondary of a DC transformer if the secondary overlaps the primary laterally.
