We give a compact expression for the unpolarized differential cross section for muon–proton scattering in the one-photon exchange approximation. The effect of adding the vacuum polarization amplitude to the no-spin-flip amplitude for one-photon exchange is calculated at small energies and scattering angles and is found to be negligible for present experiments. The angular distribution for neutron-proton scattering at 156 ± 3 MeV has been determined for centre-of-mass scattering angles between 50 and 178°. The ratio σ(π) / σ (1/2 π ) is 5·0, and the minimum value of the differential cross-section occurs at an angle between 75 and 85°.

In the minimum electromagnetism coupling model of interaction between photon and electron, we present a effective and precise calculation on the differential cross section of Compton scattering with the help of the electron renormalized chain propagator. By comparing the result of the differential cross section of the Compton scattering with electron propagator at the tree level and the one loop level, respectively, we find that the correction of the chain diagram is better than the one-loop diagram to the differential cross section in the 10-3order.
