Cucullanellus kanabus sp. nov., parasitic in the intestine of the embiotocid fish, Cymatogaster aggregata Gibbons from Departure Bay, British Columbia is described and illustrated. The main features distinguishing C. kanabus from previously described species in the genus are the arrangement of the caudal papillae in males, the general body shape and various measurements. The species considered referable to Cucullanellus Törnquist 1931 are listed.
