Two new species, Lepanthes aprica and Lepanthes oreophila, are described from the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The latter species is similar to L. blepharistes Rchb.f. and L. schiedii Rchb.f. Lepanthes aprica does not closely resemble any other Mesoamerican species.

Abstract—A synopsis of Dicliptera (Acanthaceae) for Brazil is presented. Six species are recognized: Dicliptera ciliaris, D. sexangularis, and D. squarrosa, widely distributed in South America; D. purpurascens, which ranges from the North Region of Brazil (in the state of Acre) to eastern Bolivia; D. gracilirama, a new species from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil; and D. granchaquenha, a new species recorded in dry and semideciduous forests in Bolivia and western Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Furthermore, we propose new synonyms and designate lectotypes for eleven names. An identification key to the six accepted Dicliptera species in Brazil is provided.

Abstract: Two new species of bats (Pteronotus personatus and Cynomops mexicanus) are reported for the state of Yucatán. Diagnoses and illustrations are given for Tonnoira bitalea Quate. This species is recorded from Brazil for the first time based on material collected from the state of Amazonas, Ipixuna, Rio Gregório. T. spina sp. nov. and T. tripenis sp. nov. are described and illustrated based on specimens collected from the same locality.

In the present study, two new species of Nitzschia Hassall, Nitzschia pusilluhasta sp. nov. and Nitzschia australodesertorum sp. nov. are described from reservoirs in the state of São Paulo southeast Brazil. The morphology of the new species was analysed using light and electron microscopy. Nitzschia pusilluhasta is distinguished from morphologically related species by its valve outline, the shape of apices and fibulae, the absence of a gap between central fibulae, and the density of striae and areolae. Nitzschia australodesertorum differs from morphologically similar species in its valve outline, the shape of apices and fibulae, the presence of a gap between the central fibulae, and the density of fibulae and striae. The morphology and ecology of the new species are discussed and compared with morphologically related taxa. Information on the co-occurrence of other diatom species in the samples is also provided.

São descritas para o Estado do Paraná, Brasil, duas novas espécies de Vitaceae: Cissus cervii sp. n.. e Cissus inacrocarpa sp.n. O holotypus de Cissus cervii sp .n., coletado por Antonio Dunaiski Junior, em 17/111/199 1, no Brasil, Estado do Paraná, Município de Morretes, encontra-se registrado no herbário do Departamento de Botânica, Setor de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Fderal do Paraná (UPCB), sob o No. 18831. Esta espécie mostra-se próxima a Cissus gongylodes (Baker) Planchon, diferenciando- se desta em: planta de maior porte, caule não alado, folhas semicarnosas, folíolo central rômbico a levemente lobado e estilete longo. Cissus cervil sp. ii. é dedicada a Armando Carlos Cervi. O holotypus de Cissus macrocarpa sp. n., coletado por Gert Hatschbach 7675 em 31/1/1961, no Brasil, Estado do Paraná, município de Paranaguá, margem do Rio Guaraguaçu, encontra-se registrado no herbário do Museu Botânico Municipal (MBM), Curitiba, PR, Brasil, sob o No. 42859. Esta espécie mostra-se próxima a Cissus gongylodes (Baker) Planchon, diferenciando- se desta em: caule não alado, gavinhas com discos adesivos, folíolo central elíptico não lobado, tricomas não glandulares e fruto elíptico maior. Two new species of Nullana DeLong, 1980 are described and illustrated: N. albinoi sp. nov. and N. sakakibarai sp. nov., both from the state of Paraná, Brazil. Two new synonyms and a new combination are proposed. A key to the 10 known species of Nullana are presented and Nullana gelbana is newly recorded from Paraná State, Brazil.

Two new species of the genus Charinus are described from caves of Brazil: Charinus spelaeus sp. n., the fourth described species of the genus for the state of Minas Gerais, and Charinus santanensis sp. n., the sixth described species of the genus for the state of Bahia. Charinus spelaeus sp. n. has reduced median and lateral eyes, and is the sixth troglobitic Charinus described for Brazil. We present here an updated key and a distribution map for all the Brazilian species of Charinus.

The family Lygistorrhinidae is recorded for the first time in Mexico, based on adult morphological descriptions of two new species of the genus Lygistorrhina Skuse: L. (Probolaeus) alexi sp. nov. and L. (P.) borkenti sp. nov. A third species belonging to L. (Lygistorrhina) sp. was found, but it remains undescribed due to scarcity of specimens. The specimens were collected in two natural reserves of the state of Yucatan (Ría Lagartos and Ría Celestún), along the border of the states of Morelos and Mexico (National Park “Lagunas de Zempoala”), and in the state of Hidalgo (near the locality of Tlanchinol).Keys words: Diptera, Lygistorrhinidae, Mexico, Lygistorrhina, Probolaeus, new species
