Two watering systems used for growing minimally stressed plants are described. An aeroponics system, which relies on a mist of nutrient solution applied to roots without a root support medium, affords control over water availability and easy access to roots. A continuous circulation system, which constantly circulates nutrient medium, also provides control over water availability as well as control over pO2 and stress duration in flooded plants. A comparison is made of the growth characteristics of plants grown in the two systems with those grown by traditional watering methods. The significance of watering prehistory to stress physiology experiments is discussed.

TWA Telaga Warna is a Nature Conservation Area which is mainly intended for tourism and nature recreation. TWA Potential of Telaga Warna is not yet known with certainty, given its intangible nature and has recently experienced a decrease in the number of visitors. For this reason, it is necessary to know the potential and strategies for developing tourism objects in TWA Telaga Warna. The method used in this research is based on the analysis of the area of operation of the object of natural tourist attraction (ADO - ODTWA), the index of the feasibility of an object and the analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT). Based on the research, it was found that TWA Telaga Warna has potential tourism objects that are worth developing (77.55%) and the TWA Telaga Warna development strategy is the SO strategy, namely maximizing the strength (strength) owned and maximizing the opportunity (opportunity) by preserving the natural good flora. , fauna, natural beauty and water availability of TWA Telaga Warna are the satisfaction of visitors, making infrastructure so that visitors can enjoy natural panoramas and easy access to information, and making tour packages at TWA Telaga Warna in collaboration with the hotel.

Results of researches on development of substrate for input of meristems of grapes are provided to the culture of in vitro for the purpose of increase in their regenerative ability at improvement from chronic diseases. In the advanced environment in comparison with analogs the general content of macrosalts was reduced and their ratio taking into account consumption and features of their absorption from nutrient solution is optimized by grape plant. During tests of new substrate its efficiency for grapes grades from various environmental-geographical groups was established. Higher and stable percent of survival and regeneration of extremely small meristems, against the background of various modifications of copy-book of traditionally applied substrate of Murasige and Skuga is established.

Growth of Pythium aphanidermatum, Pythium ultimum, Pythium irregulare, Phytophthora nicoctianae, Phytophthora cinnomomi, Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani and Thielaviopsis basicoli was inhibited in vitro when grown in a clarified V-8 nutrient solution containing 10% garlic extract. After exposure to 10% garlic extract for 3 days, all fungi and fungal-like organisms failed to grow after being washed and transferred to fresh cornmeal agar nutrient medium without garlic extract. When Sphagnum peat was inoculated with P. aphanidermatum and drenched with solutions containing varying concentrations of garlic extract, a single drench of 35% garlic extract or two drenches of 15% garlic extract were required to rid the substrate of viable P. aphanidermatum. In sand, a single application of 25% garlic extract or two applications of 10% garlic extract were required to rid the sand of viable P. aphanidermatum Thus, Sphagnum peat appeared to partially inactivate the components in garlic and did so to a greater extent than sand. Therefore, efficacy of garlic extract as a soil drench fungicide will be affected by the type of substrate or soil to which the garlic extract is applied.

The research project is related to the study of plant development and fructification characteristics of Fragaria*ananassa in a cityfarm environment in an experimental nutrient medium. For the research we took the variety «Florida Buhti», which kept a high yield throughout the experiment.

B. cinerea and S. sclerotiorum growing in a nutrient medium on the surface of carrots at 20 °C produced significantly more extracellular pectolytic enzymes when the carrots were exposed to 94–96% relative humidity than when exposed to 98–100% relative humidity. Tests in which these organisms were grown in a nutrient solution containing pectic substances showed that they produced pectolytic enzymes in significant quantities only when readily metabolizable sources of energy (e.g. ethanol, carbohydrates) were not available. These results suggest that the low relative humidity increased enzyme production by concentrating nutrients on the carrot surface to the point where they inhibited growth of the organisms and stimulated enzyme production. Tests also showed that pectolytic enzyme activity on the surface of unwashed carrots stored 9 months at 0–1 °C was substantially higher at 90–95% relative humidity than at 98–100% relative humidity. The results indicated that reduced decay at 98–100% relative humidity was largely due to lower pectolytic enzyme production.

In order to make the SOFC-MGT system more widely used, the mathematical simulation models of the SOFC-MGT top-level circulatory system and the new bottom circulatory system were first established, and then the performance of the two systems was analyzed and compared using Matlab/Simulink simulation software. The research results show that the output performance of the SOFC-MGT top-level circulation system is due to the new bottom-level circulation system, and the stack output performance of the two systems is not much different.

The experiment demonstrated the greatest number of bacteria on the surface of roots immersed in nutrient solution, next on the epidermis of the parts of roots remaining in the air space above the nutrient solution and on the roots growing in the seed-bed; a smaller number in the seed-bed itself and the smallest number in the nutrient solution. The population of bacteria consisted of up to 90% short rod of bacilli. The total number of bacteria in hydroponic culture with ammonium was higher than in that with nitrate. As a rule the bacteria belonging to the separate physiological groups, participating in nitrogen metabolism (ammonifying, proteolytic, proteinizing, denitrifying and oligonitrophilic bacteria) appeared to be more numerus in the culture with ammonium than in that with nitrate. The growth of plants in hydroponic culture with ammonium was weaker than in that with nitrate.
