This paper presents the results of work undertaken to develop and test contrasting data analysis approaches for the detection of bursts/leaks and other anomalies within wate r supply systems at district meter area (DMA)level. This was conducted for Yorkshire Water (YW) sample data sets from the Harrogate and Dales (H&D), Yorkshire, United Kingdom water supply network as part of Project NEPTUNE EP/E003192/1 ). A data analysissystem based on Kalman filtering and statistical approach has been developed. The system has been applied to the analysis of flow and pressure data. The system was proved for one dataset case and have shown the ability to detect anomalies in flow and pres sure patterns, by correlating with other information. It will be shown that the Kalman/statistical approach is a promising approach at detecting subtle changes and higher frequency features, it has the potential to identify precursor features and smaller l eaks and hence could be useful for monitoring the development of leaks, prior to a large volume burst event.

Geragai graben is located in the South Sumatera Basin. It was formed by mega sequence tectonic process with various stratigraphic sequence from land and marine sedimentation. One of the overpressure indication zones in the Geragai graben is in the Gumai Formation, where the sedimentation is dominated by fine grained sand and shale with low porosity and permeability. The aim of the study is to localize the overpressure zone and to analyze the overpressure mechanism on the Gumai Formation. The Eaton method was used to determine pore pressure value using wireline log data, pressure data (RFT/FIT), and well report. The significant reversal of sonic and porosity log is indicating an overpressure presence. The cross-plot analysis of velocity vs density and fluid type data from well reports were used to analyze the causes of overpressure in the Gumai Formation. The overpressure in Gumai Formation of Geragai graben is divided into two zones, they are in the upper level and lower level of the Gumai Formation. Low overpressure have occurred in the Upper Gumai Formation and mild overpressure on the Lower Gumai Formation. Based on the analyzed data, it could be predicted, that the overpressure mechanism in the Upper Gumai Formation might have been caused by a hydrocarbon buoyancy, whereas in the Lower Gumai Formation, might have been caused by disequilibrium compaction as a result of massive shale sequence.

Cortical mechanisms play an important role in breathing control under increased breathing resistance (resistive loads). Cortical mechanisms determine the level of voluntary motivation, which significantly affects the tolerance of resistive breathing loads. The purpose of the paper is to determine the effect of voluntary motivation on the tolerance of additional breathing resistance. Materials and Methods. The authors formed procedural motivation by means of moral encouragement or financial rewards of the subjects. Simulation of increased breathing resistance was performed using in-creasing values of thresholdless inspiratory aerodynamic loads: 40, 60, 70, and 80 % from the maximum intraoral pressure. Results. The maximum level of tolerance of additional breathing resistance was observed in volunteers with a material and subsidiary procedural motivation of activity. Under respiratory loads, these subjects demonstrated the greatest deviations of the functional state indicators. Undefined motivation based on the mobilization of goal-oriented resources with moral stimulation showed less efficiency. Lack of specially formed procedural motivation led to minimal tolerance of resistive loads. Conclusion. Procedural motivation, aimed at overcoming additional breathing resistance, significantly increases the tolerance of individual protective means of respiratory organs, which maintains health of workers in a polluted technological environment. Keywords: motivation, tolerance, increased breathing resistance. Большую роль в регуляции дыхания при увеличенном сопротивлении дыханию (резистивных нагрузках) играют кортикальные механизмы. Корковые механизмы определяют уровень произвольной мотивации, которая существенно влияет на переносимость резистивных дыхательных нагрузок. Цель исследования – определение влияния произвольной мотивации на переносимость дополнительного респираторного сопротивления. Материалы и методы. Процессуальную мотивацию формировали методом морального или материального поощрения испытуемых. Моделирование увеличенного сопротивления дыханию проводили с помощью предъявления возрастающих значений беспороговых инспираторных аэродинамических нагрузок: 40, 60, 70 и 80 % от максимального внутриротового давления. Результаты. Максимальный уровень переносимости дополнительного респираторного сопротивления наблюдался у добровольцев, у которых была сформирована материально-субсидивная процессуальная мотивация деятельности; у этой категории испытуемых во время действия дыхательных нагрузок отмечались наибольшие отклонения показателей функционального состояния. Произвольная мотивация на основе мобилизации волевых ресурсов при моральном стимулировании характеризовалась меньшей эффективностью, а отсутствие специально сформированной процессуальной мотивации сопровождалось минимальной переносимостью резистивных нагрузок. Выводы. Процессуальная мотивация, сформированная для преодоления дополнительного респираторного сопротивления, существенно повышает переносимость средств индивидуальной защиты органов дыхания, что имеет большое значение для сохранения здоровья работающих в условиях загрязненной производственной среды. AbstractTropical cyclone (TC) activities over the western North Pacific (WNP) and TC landfall in Japan are investigated by collecting historical TC track data and meteorological observation data starting from the mid-nineteenth century. Historical TC track data and TC best track data are merged over the WNP from 1884 to 2018. The quality of historical TC data is not sufficient to count the TC numbers over the WNP due to the lack of spatial coverage and different TC criteria before the 1950s. We focus on TC landfall in Japan using a combination of TC track data and meteorological data observed at weather stations and lighthouses from 1877 to 2019. A unified TC definition is applied to obtain equivalent quality during the whole analysis period. We identify lower annual TC landfall numbers during the 1970s to the 2000s and find other periods have more TC landfall numbers including the nineteenth century. No trend in TC landfall number is detected. TC intensity is estimated by an annual power dissipation index (APDI). High APDI periods are found to be around 1900, in the 1910s, from the 1930s to 1960s, and after the 1990s. When we focus on the period from 1977 to 2019, a significant increasing trend of ADPI is seen, and significant northeastward shift of TC landfall location is detected. On the other hand, TC landfall location shifts northeastward and then southwestward in about 100-year interval. European and US ships sailed through East and Southeast Asian waters before the weather station network was established in the late nineteenth century. Then, we focus on TC events in July 1853 observed by the US Naval Japan Expedition of Perry’s fleet and August 1863 by a UK Navy ship that participated in two wars in Japan. A TC moved slowly westward over the East China Sea south of the Okinawa Islands from 21 to 25 July 1853. Another TC was detected in the East China Sea on 15–16 August 1863 during the bombardment of Kagoshima in southern Japan. Pressure data are evaluated by comparing the observations made by 10 naval ships in Yokohama, central Japan during 1863–1864. The deviation of each ship pressure data from the 10 ships mean is about 2.7–2.8 hPa.
