ABSTRACTPlane-parallel poled, low loss, channel waveguides are fabricated with a large poling field (200V/μm) in 4-dimethylamino-4'-nitrostilbene (DANS) side-chain polymers. The parallel poled film leads to efficient nonlinear optical applications for TE guided Modes. We demonstrate surface emitting second harmonic generation due to mixing of counter propagating waves with this film.

AbstractWe have synthesized several metal xanthate complexes from metal salts and xanthate potassium salts. Powders of several of the materials were sorted and tested for their nonlinear optical properties. Cadmium xanthate demonstrated phase matchability for frequency doubling of 1.06 micron light and generated a very strong second harmonic signal.
