Air-lock valve is an important part of the mesh roller-type unginned cotton and film remnant separator. To improve the structure of the air-lock valve, the cotton flow condition in the separator was analyzed by using high speed imaging technology firstly. Then friction coefficient between unginned cotton and mesh roller was tested by experiment. Meanwhile, some parameters of the air-lock valve were obtained by analyzing different phenomenons that are blockings in the air-lock valve during running of the separator. Finally, the validation test was done, the results indicate that the improved air-lock valve is more reasonable than before, and the blocking can be avoided successfully.

The measurement of muzzle vibration responses during gun firing is one of the most important factors for successful design of gun. The use and result are limited by traditional method for the effect of firing environment, so new measurement method is required, the high-speed imaging technology is one choice. The application of high-speed imaging technology in measurement of muzzle vibration is focused on qualitative analysis, in order to discuss the quantitative analysis in this paper, images of muzzle vibration responses are obtained by using high-speed vidicon. Image pretreatment is done for post processing expediently, the process of pretreatment include de-noising by using wavelet transform method, gray processing by using averaged-value method and contrast improvement by using wavelet transform method. After image pretreatment, orientation and matching is done by using correlative matching method, and then the numerical of muzzle vibration responses during gun firing are obtained. So a novel method is afforded for measuring of muzzle vibration responses during gun firing, and the new method has practical significance in the gun’s design, research and production.

The lifetime of the sound barrier is threatened by high-speed train-induced impulsive wind pressure as it passes by. The vibration response of the sound barrier during the process of train passing is difficult to be measured using conventional measurement methods because of the inconvenience of the installation of markers on the sound barrier. In this paper, the high-speed camera is used to record the whole process of the train passing by the sound barrier. Then, a displacement extraction algorithm based on the theory of Taylor expansion is proposed to obtain the vibration response curve. Compared with the result simulated by using the finite element method, the video extraction result shows the same head wave and tail wave phenomenon, demonstrating that the vibration measurement by using the high-speed imaging technology is an effective measuring way. It can achieve noncontact and remote vibration measurement and has important practical value.

ABSTRACT This article presents a novel experimental technique for measuring in-plane deformations and vibration modes of a rotating nonpneumatic tire subjected to obstacle impacts. The tire was mounted on a modified quarter-car test rig, which was built around one of the drums of a 500-horse power chassis dynamometer at Clemson University's International Center for Automotive Research. A series of experiments were conducted using a high-speed camera to capture the event of the rotating tire coming into contact with a cleat attached to the surface of the drum. The resulting video was processed using a two-dimensional digital image correlation algorithm to obtain in-plane radial and tangential deformation fields of the tire. The dynamic mode decomposition algorithm was implemented on the deformation fields to extract the dominant frequencies that were excited in the tire upon contact with the cleat. It was observed that the deformations and the modal frequencies estimated using this method were within a reasonable range of expected values. In general, the results indicate that the method used in this study can be a useful tool in measuring in-plane deformations of rolling tires without the need for additional sensors and wiring.
