In view of the existing problems of traditional interventional catheters, particularly poor activity, operation difficulty and mass blind area, a novel interventional catheter with a cable-driven active head-end is proposed, and a prototype was built to verify the performance. This paper deals with the kinematics and dynamics of the cable-driven prototype, a dynamic model based on Kanes method combined with screw theory was presented in this paper. According the mathematical model and the prototypes structure, the analysis of kinematics and dynamics of active head-end-end is done in the environment of Mathematica. The needed driving forces of every joint when the system moving along planned trajectory are calculated. The results can provide a basis for the structure design and motion control of the interventional active catheter.

1. A method for recording the positions of the eyes of a free-swimming dogfish is described. 2. The eyes of the dogfish do not compensate completely for the lateral swinging of the head which occurs during swimming. The labyrinthine apparatus and the extraocular musculature are capable of providing complete compensation, but this compensation is opposed by influences from the spinal cord. 3. Full compensation during swimming would stabilize only objects at infinity. Partial compensation serves to stabilize a plane of reference close to the fish. 4. Eye movements, allied with the normal zig-zag progression of the fish, serve to eliminate the blind area behind the fish. 5. Other movements of the dogfish's eyes are discussed, and arranged in five categories. 6. Spontaneous movements of the eyes of resting dogfish are described, and related to the eye movements of swimming dogfish. The spontaneous movements are suggested to be manifestations of an otherwise subliminal central excitatory state affecting turning and swimming.

Conventionally, a motorcycle has headlight and mirrors to provide front illumination and rear views for drivers, respectively. Rearview mirrors on conventional motorcycles are fixed, which is easy to cause instant rear blind area for drivers on turns or hubbly roads. Therefore, the drivers cannot get traffic information behind motorcycles, and easily lead to traffic accidents. In this paper, actuation for an adaptive rearview mirror system for motorcycles was proposed. According to sensor inputs, this system adaptively adjusts the rearview mirrors to compensate the changes of vehicle dynamics in pitching, steering and rolling under different road conditions. A grey predictor was also developed in this paper to estimate the change of vehicle dynamics in advance. With the properly designed actuation, this system can provide wide and appropriate rear views to motorcycle riders. It significantly enhances riders’ safety and reduces the occurrence of traffic accidence.

Purpose Surgical robot systems have been used in single-port laparoscopy (SPL) surgery to improve patient outcomes. This study aims to develop a vision robot system for SPL surgery to effectively improve the visualization of surgical robot systems for relatively complex surgical procedures. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, a new master-slave magnetic anchoring vision robotic system for SPL surgery was proposed. A lighting distribution analysis for the imaging unit of the vision robot was carried out to guarantee illumination uniformity in the workspace during SPL surgery. Moreover, cleaning force for the lens of the camera was measured to assess safety for an abdominal wall, and performance assessment of the system was performed. Findings Extensive experimental results for illumination, control, cleaning force and functionality test have indicated that the proposed system has an excellent performance in providing the visual feedback. Originality/value The main contribution of this paper lies in the development of a magnetic anchoring vision robot system that successfully improves the ability of cleaning the lens and avoiding the blind area in a field of view.

The assisted download is an effective method solving the problem that the coverage range is insufficient when Wi-Fi access is used in VANET. For the low utilization of time-space resource within blind area and unbalanced download services in VANET, this paper proposes an approximate global optimum scheme to select vehicle based on WebGIS for assistance download. For WebGIS, this scheme uses a two-dimensional matrix to respectively define the time-space resource and the vehicle selecting behavior, and uses Markov Decision Process to solve the problem of time-space resource allocation within blind area, and utilizes the communication features of VANET to simplify the behavior space of vehicle selection so as to reduce the computing complexity. At the same time, Euclidean Distance(Metric) and Manhattan Distance are used as the basis of vehicle selection by the proposed scheme so that, in the case of possessing the balanced assisted download services, the target vehicles can increase effectively the total amount of user downloads. Experimental results show that because of the wider access range and platform independence of WebGIS, when user is in the case of relatively balanced download services, the total amount of downloads is increased by more than 20%. Moreover, WebGIS usually only needs to use Web browser (sometimes add some plug-ins) on the client side, so the system cost is greatly reduced.

Abstract There will be better atomic clock system and micro-wave time comparison link in the near earth space station, like Chinese Space Station and European ACES(Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space) system, than those in the GNSS(Global Navigation satellite System) satellites. Therefore, the space station common-view (CV) will realize more accurate time comparison than GNSS CV in theory. But due to the orbit characteristic of the space station, there are some limitations if traditional GNSS CV time comparison method is applied to the space station. In order to solve these problems, the GNSS CV method is optimized and the method that is appropriate for the space station is proposed. First, the basic CV principle is analyzed, and the delay items which are needed to be considered for GNSS and space station CV are compared and analyzed. Then, the differences between GNSS and space station CV are studied, and the influences of orbit error on these two CV methods are analyzed in detail. The GNSS CV method is optimized to be fit for the space station next. Finally, the performance of the optimized method is validated by simulated experiments. The simulation results show that the space station time comparison accuracy of several tens of picoseconds can be obtained by the optimized method. Furthermore, the problem of CV blind area is solved by the optimized method effectively.

The monitoring-blind area exists in the industrial park because of private interest and limited administrative power. As the atmospheric quality in the blind area impacts the environment management seriously, the prediction and inference of the blind area is explored in this paper. Firstly, the fusion network framework was designed for the solution of “Circumjacent Monitoring-Blind Area Inference”. In the fusion network, the nonlinear autoregressive network was set up for the time series prediction of circumjacent points, and the full connection layer was built for the nonlinear relation fitting of multiple points. Secondly, the physical structure and learning method was studied for the sub-elements in the fusion network. Thirdly, the spatio-temporal prediction algorithm was proposed based on the network for the blind area monitoring problem. Finally, the experiment was conducted with the practical monitoring data in an industrial park in Hebei Province, China. The results show that the solution is feasible for the blind area analysis in the view of spatial and temporal dimensions.

A prospective, double-blind clinical study was performed to evaluate the combination of dipyridamole(Persantin)225 mg/day and acetyl salicyclic acid (ASA) 1 g/day prophylaxis of post-operative venous thromboembolism in elective total hip replacement. Patients were stratified according to age, and randomly assigned to receive drug or placebo. All patients were followed with 125I-labelledfibrinogen scanning for one week post-operatively, or until fully mobile. Venography was performed in 67/129 patients; in 27 patients the venogram was obtained to confirm a positive fibrinogen scan, in 40 patients an elective venogram was obtained on the 7th post-operative day to evaluate the operated thigh (a blind area for scanning). Thrombosis (by scan or venogram) was found in 16/66(24%) in the control group, and in 21/63(33%) in the treated group. Overall incidence was 37/129 (29%). Correlation of scan with venography was 90%. There were no clinically significant pulmonary emboli in either group. We conclude that the combination of ASA and dipridamole as given in this study is not effective prophylaxis in elective total hip replacement.

The frequency-scanning-interferometry-based (FSI-based) absolute ranging technology is a type of ranging technology possessing a high precision and no ranging blind area, so it can be used for non-cooperative targets. However, due to a tiny movement of a target, the Doppler shift and the phase modulation are introduced into the beat signal which results in ranging accuracy decrease. In order to solve this problem, first the model of vibration effect is established, and then the beat signals of two adjacent scanning periods are processed to produce a signal that is immune to vibration. The proposed method is verified by the experiments, and the experimental results show that the effect of vibration compensation is better for the target with a lower vibration velocity and at a lower vibration frequency (lower than 6 Hz). When the target is subjected to a sinusoidal vibration with an amplitude of 10 μm at a frequency of 1 Hz, by using the proposed method the standard deviation is reduced from 775 to 12 μm. Moreover, in the natural environment, by using vibration compensation the standard deviation is reduced from 289 to 11 μm.
