Based on the assumption of plane section, ideal elastic-plastic model of steel and the constitutive relations of concrete in Chinese Code for Design of Concrete Structures, numerical method is used to analyze the relationship of the axial force-moment-curvature on RC section. After dividing the normal section into strips, we adopt the secant stiffness iteration method (according to the results of each iteration, modify the secant stiffness through changing the elastic modulus of materials) to compile computer program. The results of the paper show a good agreement with those of the analytical method. Comparing with the analytical method, the numerical method of the paper can be wildly used in the application.

Cable stayed bridge are the most flexible bridge and getting popularity because of its economy for longer spans. Cable stayed bridges have good stability, optimum use of structural materials, aesthetic, low design and maintenance costs, and efficient structural characteristics. Therefore, this type of bridges are given preference for long span crossings compared to suspension bridges. A study is carried out to find the dynamic effect on different configuration of pylons of a cable stayed bridge. A pylon is inclined at 5o , 10o , 15o , 20o , 25o and 30o with vertical and horizontal axis both and compared with vertical pylon to study the dynamic response of bridge. The 3D bridge models are prepared on CSI BRIDGE software and bridge is analyzed seismically by Imperial Valley 1947, Earthquake. The bridge response in terms of Pylon, Girder and Cable axial force, moment and torsion is obtained. The study reveals that the different angle of the pylon has great influence in the seismic response of cable stayed bridge. We are getting minimum axial force at 10o in cable at main span, girder at main span and pylon.

An effort is made to develop a new 3-component force-moment balance, which is capable of measuring lift force, drag force and pitching moment of a model mounted in the water tunnel. The concept used in the balance design is the bending- beam principle. The forces acting on the spring element cause strains on its surface, which are measured by strain gauges. Since strain yielded by the axial force is usually very small, therefore it is not practical to measure axial force using strain gauge directly to sense the strain in axial direction. The main idea of the new balance design is to translate all desired forces (lift and drag) in such a way that they yield bending strain at selected strain-gauge station. This is done by using a bending balance geometry. Under this apparatus, the model wing is mounted at one of its end to the bending balance. The corresponding Lift, Drag forces and Pitching moment are translated into moments at the other end of the balance, and can be measured from sets of strain gauges in bending mode (twisting mode for pitching moment). Example readings are presented in this paper.

Research has found that the axial load applied to the bit is distributed unevenly along the crowns of the balls. The middle crowns are the busiest. The value of the axial force perceived by a separate ring is associated with the deformation of the details of the ball joint. You can reduce the uneven loading of crowns by shifting them along the ball along the radius of the bit, placing them so that the vertical line passing through the center of the lower ball of the lock bearing passes through the middle of the gap between the crowns of neighboring balls. The bits with the new option of placing the teeth on the balls were tested on the stand and in industrial conditions. For the bits of this design, the axial load was distributed more evenly over the crowns, which allowed increasing the efficiency of their work.
