Sebuah esperimen bagi menambah daya pembesaran untuk jalur gelombang panjang (jalur–L) pembesar terdop erbium (PTE) telah didemonstrasi menggunakan reka bentuk yang berbadan dua. Jika dibandingkan dengan pembesar yang berbadan satu, pembesar ini dapat menambah pembesaran untuk isyarat 1580 nm sebanyak 5.5 dB dengan sedikit sahaja penambahan nilai bisingan. Nilai bisingan bertambah sebanyak 0.3 dB kerana kemasukan isolator dalam reka bentuk. Kadar kuasa pam pertama mestilah 33% daripada jumlah keseluruhan kuasa pam untuk nilai optima. Pembesaran maksimum sebanyak 8.3 dB telah diperolehi oleh isyarat 1568 nm semasa kuasa isyarat dan kuasa pam, masing–masing ditetapkan pada 30 dBm dan 92 mW. Keputusan esperimen menunjukkan penggunaan pembesar berbadan dua dapat menjimatkan kos kerana ia menggunakan kuasa pam yang lebih rendah. Kata kunci: Gentian terdop erbium, pembesar optik, pembesar terdop erbium, jalus LPTE An experiment on gain enhancement in the long–wavelength band erbium–doped fiber amplifier (L–band EDFA) is demonstrated using a dual stage configuration. Compared to a conventional single–stage amplifier, the small signal gain for a 1580 nm signal can be improved by 5.5 dB without paying much noise figure penalty. The corresponding noise figure penalty was 0.3 dB due to the insertion loss of the optical isolator. The optimum pump power ratio for the first pump was experimentally determined to be 33%. The maximum gain improvement of 8.3 dB was obtained at a signal wavelength of 1568 nm while signal and total pump powers were fixed at –30 dBm and 92 mW, respectively. These results show that the employment of the dual–stage amplifier system will play an important role in the development of a practical L–band EDFA from the perspective of economical usage of pump power. The scope of this paper is to analyze the output signal power with pump power and length variation in cascaded EDFA simulation model performance. This paper describes the simulation model of Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) of variable lengths (10 m, 50 m, and 120 m) with dual pumping techniques (dual forward pumping with two 980 nm wavelengths, dual forward and backward pumping with two 980 nm wavelengths) and Tri-pumping techniques. The simulation models consist of input source and pump power coupled by WDM coupler which gives optimized signal power in the above-mentioned simulation model. The simulation model consists of source with multiple wavelengths (1520 nm–1618 nm), pumping source with the wavelength 980 nm, isolator, and filter. The resulting models accurately represent EDFA optimized output signal power. Simulation results show that choosing careful fiber length 120 m and pump power 1 W in dual pumping provided 0.07 W optimized output signal power compared to other pumping techniques.

A double-pass erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) based on a depressed cladding erbium-doped fiber, which operates in the short wavelength (S-band) region is proposed and demonstrated. This amplifier provides a small signal gain as high as 30 dB at 1500 nm, using only 15 m depressed cladding erbium-doped fiber (EDF) and 130 mW of 980 nm pump power. Compared to the single-pass configuration, this amplifier shows a gain enhancement of about 14 dB for pump powers above 120 mW. However, noise figures penalties of less than 0.9 dB are obtained for these pump powers. The proposed double-pass amplifier will play an important role in the development of a practical S-band EDFA from the perspective of economical usage of EDF and pump power.

This work demonstrates the simulation of two different types of optical fiber amplifiers (OFA) utilizing OptiSystem–10, namely, 3 m length of erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and 7 km length of Raman fiber amplifier (RFA). The counter-pumped architecture is adopted for both proposed optical amplifiers. The optimum pump power (OPP) for each amplifier determines in which the longest 3–dB flat gain bandwidth (3–dB BW), reasonable average gain level (Gav), proper average noise figure (NFav) and lower gain variation (Gvar) were achieved. The EDFA shows best performance at conventional band (C–band) within the pump power of 30 mW.While the better performance is observed at long band (L–band) within the pump power of 600 mW for the RFA.

A ring cavity multiwavelength Brillouin erbium-doped optical fiber laser （EDFL）based on the stimulated brillouin scattering effects and linear gain mechanism of erbium-doped fiber was demonstrated, in which single mode fiber was used as Brillouin gain medium and the Stokes signal was amplified by using the erbium-doped fiber amplifier, so that the laser can produce a stable multi-wavelength output at room temperature. Through the study and analysis of the position of the circular and coupler and the access mode of the coupler, we found that they both had influence on the output of the brillouin-erbium fiber laser. Then we have done some experiments at the Brillouin pump power of 14 dBm and the 980 nm pump power of 23 dBm, and single mode fiber length of 10km. The results showed that the access mode of the coupler affects the output of the brillouin-erbium fiber laser obviously. The detailed test results and the corresponding explanation were given.

In this work, the construction of a single stage L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier which incorporates a short 5.1 m erbium doped fiber coil is described. Gain and noise figure measurements as a function of forward, backward and counter-propagating CW 1480 nm pumping schemes at different pump power levels are presented. Further, the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) power conversion efficiency (PCE) calculations as a function of pump power are provided.
