The resolution of a solid state deteotor was investigated and a best value of about 16 keY was obtained after cooling. The energy levels of 8'Y and I7AI were measured with this deteotor. New states were observed at around 3�0 and 3� 7 MeV in 8ey and over 20 new levels were noted in 17 AI.
