New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from the standing waters of Sri Lanka are presented. Fifteen species have been registrated, among them four species, i.e. Piona srilankana (Pionidae), Neumania edytae (Unionicolidae), Krendowskia (Krendowskiella) srilankana (Krendowskiidae), and Mideopsis ewelinae (Mideopsidae) are described as new to science. DNA was extracted from 18 water mite specimens and DNA barcodes are given for the first time for nine species.

New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from Brunei Darussalam are presented. Two new species are described: Hydrodroma bruneiensis (Hydrodromidae) and Litarachna bruneiensis (Pontarachnidae); Limnesia lembangensis Piersig, 1906 and Arrenurus bihamatus K. Viets, 1935, are reported for the first time from Brunei Darussalam. The water mite fauna of Borneo now tallies 41 species.

New records of water mites from Serbia, North Macedonia and Greece revealed by DNA barcoding are presented. DNA barcodes were recovered from 63 water mite specimens morphologically assigned to 32 species. One species Lebertia algeriensis Lundblad, 1942, is reported for the first time for the Balkans; four species, i.e. Lebertia fimbriata Thor, 1899, L. rivulorum K. Viets, 1933, Atractides stankovici Pešić & Gerecke, 2010, and Wettina lacustris Pešić & Smit, 2018 are new for North Macedonia; Monatractides madritensis (K. Viets, 1930) and Mideopsis roztoczensis Biesiadka & Kowalik, 1979 are new for Serbia; and Hygrobates mediterraneus Pešić, 2020 is new for Greece. Comparing sequences of our study with the available COI sequences we recognized five possible cases of cryptic diversity involving species clusters with more than 5% divergence indicating that these species need further study.

The present paper deals with interesting new records of water mites (Acari; Hydrachnidia) from springs and running waters of the Kozuf and Alsar Mountains (Southern Macedonia). In the paper 12 new species are added to the list of water mites known from Macedonia, and one of them is recorded for the first time for the water mite fauna of the Balkan Peninsula. The water mite fauna of Macedonia is thus represented by 154 species, belonging to 45 genera. Slide-mounted specimens and material pre?served in fluid are lodged in the collection of the author. The following abbreviations are used: I-L-6 = sixth segment of first leg; S-1/2 = setae at I-L-5; (1/2/3) = one male two females, three deutonymphs.

Three new water mite (Acari: Hydrachnidia) species are described from Tasmania, Tasmanobates separatus sp. nov., Procorticacarus karanovici sp. nov. and Guineaxonopsis tasmanica sp. nov. The material was collected in 2008 during a biological survey by Tom and Ivana Karanović (Hobart, Tasmania) from surface and interstitial waters of Tasmania. Moreover, a detailed description of Litarachna cf. amnicola Cook, 1986 is given.

A survey is given of the distribution of the water mite species of the genus Sperchon Kramer (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Sperchontidae) in Turkey, based on all published data and numerous new records. Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) oezkani and S. (Sperchon) ayyildizi are described as new species; Sperchon fundamentalis Bader & Sepasgozarian, 1980 is synonymized with S. glandulosus Koenike, 1886; the first record from Turkey is given for Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) tarnogradskii Sokolow, 1927.

This survey of the distribution of the water mite species (Acari: Hydrachnidia, Hygrobatidae) of the genus Atractides Koch in Iran is based on all published data so far and numerous new records. Five new species are described, viz. Atractides markaziensis Pesic, A. mossahebii Pesic, A. mirkopesici Pesic, A. gereckei Pesic, and A. nikooae Pesic; a first description is given for the male of Atractides cf. lunipes Lundblad, 1956; a redescription are given for Atractides baderi Schwoerbel & Sepasgozarian, 1976, Atractides nahavandii Schwoerbel & Sepasgozarian, 1976, and Atractides fluviatilis (Szalay, 1929); first records from Iran are given for Atractides acutirostris (Motas & C.Angelier, 1927), A. robustus (Sokolow, 1940) and A. inflatus (Walter, 1925).

The lichen diversity of ten forest sites representing different geographical regions in Sri Lanka was investigated. In total, c. 1500 specimens of c. 400 species were recorded of the evaluated groups (all except the Graphidaceae and a few foliose groups). The following new species are described: Astrothelium conjugatum, Heterodermia fragmentata, Lecanactis minutissima, Megalotremis cylindrica, Porina microtriseptata, Porina monilisidiata, Psoroglaena spinosa, Pyrenula multicolorata, and Schistophoron muriforme. A further 64 species are reported for the first time from Sri Lanka, including 30 new records for the Indian subcontinent and eight new to Asia.

Abstract. Ten new species of water mites are described from Ghana, i.e. Limnesia (Limnesia) stagnalis n. sp. (Limnesiidae), Hygrobatopsis (?) convexipalpis n. sp., Hygrobatopsis (Hygrobatopsis) pauciglandulosa n. sp., Hygrobates (Hygrobates) dentipalpis n. sp., Hygrobates (Hygrobates) pseudoniloticus n. sp. (Hygrobatidae), Neumania (Soarella) fusiformis n. sp., Neumania (Soarella) ghanaensis n. sp., Unionicola heversi n. sp. (Unionicolidae), Arrenurus (Megaluracarus) chutteri ankasa n. sp. and Arrenurus (Micruracarus) circulodorsalis n. sp. (Arrenuridae). Three subspecies are raised to full species, i.e. Mamersa expansa Cook, 1979 nov. stat. (Hydryphantidae), H. coriaceus (Lundblad, 1952) nov. stat. (Hygrobatidae) and Nyangalla (Ecpolopella) acuticaudata K. Viets, 1916 nov. stat. (Unionicolidae). Ecpolus dorsofenestratus Lundblad, 1949 is synonymized with Neumania (Alloneumania) marginata (K. Viets, 1916). The adults of Hygrobatopsis (Hygrobatopsella) inflatus (K. Viets, 1925), a species know thus far as deutonymph only, the females of Tubophora limnesioides Walter, 1935, Hygrobates niloticus Walter, 1922, Arrenurus (Megaluracarus) geniculatus Koenike 1898 and Momonides ghanaensis Smit, 2012, and the male of Piona damasiella Cook, 1966 are described for the first time. Many new records are presented for Ghana and the Gambia.
